  “We received a lovely welcome and great humour from our host. Our wheelchair bound mother was well catered for. The menu was extensive and food tasty. The icing on the cake (literally!) was the suprise birthday plates for two in our party of five. Thank you”

  “First time visiting and first impressions very good. We visited on a Friday lunchtime and picked it because it is easily accessible from the Preston to Southport Road. Was fairly busy even early on. Very Nice looking venue outside and inside, friendly approach, seats found by staff and initial drinks brought quickly while we perused the menu. IMO this is the type of venue you go to have a long leisurely lunch and not just a quick bite to eat! . This is exactly what we wanted. Would say prices are “mid” - not cheap but not extortionate by any means. The food we had was unusual and delicious. (No typical pub grub) We were checked on and asked if we wanted more drinks by a young man with a great sense of humour. This is a point that makes the difference from mediocre to great. The lady who served us the food was very bubbly and helpful also. Only lost one star for us in that an automatic service charge was added. Despite the menu stating a “discretionary” service charge would be added to parties of 8 or more, it was added to our party of 4? Despite it being explained to us as being done “automatically” by the till.. and that it could be removed instantly, why wasn’t it then removed “manually” before being presented? I really object to this, not because we weren’t going to tip, we were , but feeling “forced” into it doesn’t sit right (many people would not feel they could object to it I’m sure). Overall we enjoyed our lunch meet up at the Fox Cub. Would we return? Yes definitely 👍”

  “Had a fantastic experience at Ego at The Fox Cub celebrating a birthday with a group of 12. From the moment we arrived, the service was excellent, the staff were friendly, attentive and made everything run smoothly despite us being a fairly big group. A big shout out to Hayden, Sam, James and Rachael who looked after us superbly. The food was brilliant across the board, with everyone commenting on how good their meals were. The atmosphere was great too, lively but still relaxed enough for a proper catch-up and celebration. We had young children and even a couple of babies with us, plus a few dietary requirements, and the team handled everything with absolute ease. Nothing felt like too much trouble and it made the whole evening really enjoyable. Would definitely recommend for group celebrations. We’ll happily be back!”

  “Great meal here, we were seated quickly on arrival and staff were so good, especially Maccee who looked after us all evening. Food was great and served promptly. We had a grazing platter while we were choosing our mains and it was delicious. Just enough for 2 to share. We took our time and did not feel rushed at all. Such a nice evening. Thanks all!”

  “Myself and my parents have visited twice for lunch in the past two weeks and the food, service, ambience and experience have been amazing on both occasions. The staff are so friendly and accommodating of any needs and the food has been too restaurant quality. We shared the warm sourdough loaf, pitta breads and dips for starter, cod with lobster bisque and sea bass for mains and mini desserts and coffees for pudding and all were piping hot, great portions and of the highest quality. We used the 50% off voucher which is incredible value. Also wanted to give a shout out to the staff who go above and beyond to give you an amazing experience. The staff always try to seat us in my step dad’s favourite place and have such a good laugh with us, it is such a warm and friendly place. Our waitress was also kind enough to point out that a service charge is already added to the receipt when my mum went to add a tip, to ensure she was aware, so honest and much appreciated. I recommend visiting very highly and we will be back soon. Thank you to all the team for another brilliant experience.”

  “Love finding places like this. The staff were all great. Didn't get the chance to thank and say goodbye, to the guy who looked after us so well. His attention and charm were outstanding. Even Daphne our dog felt special. It will be a couple of weeks before we can get back, but definitely will return.”

  “Fantastic experience at Ego as always - the atmosphere is gorgeous, very warm and cosy with a classy feel. Would recommend for any occasion! Plenty of comfortable inside and outside seating. Service is always great, friendly and no delays to food or drinks. Excellent choice from the menu from appetisers and starters right through to after dinner coffee. Food is absolutely delicious!”
