About Bus Station Cafe

Inside Preston's Central Bus Station, Bus Station Cafe feeds passengers waiting for a bus or coach, sitting within the station building itself rather than on the surrounding street. Cooked breakfasts anchor the menu, with a full English alongside a smaller English breakfast that arrives with both fried bread and toast. Bacon and egg, sausages and mushrooms fill out the hot options, and tea comes in mugs beside coffee and other hot drinks. There is no booking, so you order and take a seat as you find one. Food can be eaten in or taken away for those boarding a service or eating elsewhere. A step-free entrance keeps the counter reachable for visitors with mobility needs, and high chairs are on hand for families travelling with young children. The cafe opens daily, in step with the station around it.

Customer Review Summary

The cooked breakfast is what bus station passers-through mention most, from a full English called delicious to freshly cooked bacon and egg and omelettes described as nice and good value. Hot drinks come close behind, with one reviewer saying the tea was made perfectly and others rating the coffee good, though a couple found the tea on the stewed side. Toasties paired with milkshakes and a vegetarian burger with fresh salad also draw praise, the latter alongside chips judged a bit too greasy and, in another visit, sausages called overdone. Several single out the women working as welcoming, while two describe a male member of staff more interested in talking with another man than with customers, one adding he walked away from the till and sat down. That same reviewer found the food bought that morning inedible, and another reports arriving for a coffee to find every table still holding dirty plates and cups, uncleared throughout the visit. Regulars note the small English breakfast arrives with both fried bread and toast.

“A good cafe for cafe food whilst waiting for a bus. This time I had a small English breakfast with extra mushrooms. Comes with both fried bread and toast.”

“I called in here just for a coffee this morning. Every table in the cafe had dirty plates and cups on them, some looked like they had been there for a while. No attemp had been made to clear tables. The tables were not cleared during my 20 minute visit. This is no way to operate and the owners need to rectify this.”

“Not a bad cafe. Reasonably priced for in a bus station though quality was lacking. Sausages were overdone and poor quality 'meat' as I can't be sure they weren't vegetarian. Very little sauce”

“Visited Sunday morning while waiting for a coach, good coffee and freshly cooked bacon and egg. Great service. The location is not correct tho as it is within the bus station itself and not where google says it is.”
