Customer Review Summary
Beef dishes are the most frequent draw, from slow cooked Irish beef with mash and pulled beef and pasta in a garlic creamy sauce to a 12 hour cooked beef and a beef dish with onions and mushrooms alongside a huge, fresh carrot. Close behind are the Guinness, called spot on and great, and the fish and chips and seafood chowder, which one diner describes as hearty. Others praise a Sunday roast, large portions, the cocktails, and desserts such as sticky toffee pudding and a jam and coconut sponge with custard. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, and one server's suggestion of the cod fish and chips pleased an American visitor. The recurring complaint is narrow but detailed. One reviewer who still praised the food says the website advertised a special lunch and evening menu that was unavailable over half term, with the notice appearing only on social media. Another found the shredded iceberg in the BLT toasty turned slimy from the heat. Two reviewers suggest booking ahead, and one diner returned two nights later.

“Being from america, we wanted to try something traditional. Our waitress Emma was very knowledgeable and suggested the Cod fish n chips. I wanted something like beef stew and she recommended braised beef with onions and mushrooms and a huge carrot that was so fresh and delicious. The meal was very very good , large portions and reasonable prices.”

“First time visiting The Quays Restaurant and it definitely won’t be my last! The service was so friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The atmosphere was really comfortable and relaxed for a late lunch, making it the perfect place to unwind. The food was amazing, with generous portions that were great value for money. The cocktails were fantastic too! Thank you for a lovely lunch and drinks. I can’t wait to come back!”

“This place was such a lovely highlight of our time in Portrush. The Guinness was spot on, the food was delicious, and the service was fast and friendly. The seafood chowder was hearty and absolutely perfect in every way. The fish & chips delivered the same quality and execution. The BLT toasty was pretty solid. If I had one criticism, it would be the lettuce. It was shredded iceberg and because of the heat of the sandwich, it turned into a slimy mess inside. Imho, just a big whole piece would be better served in this preparation. It may hold up to the heat better. But, that said, I still ate it all. 😆 We really enjoyed our meal and would go back again. I highly recommend it here!”

“Best modern pub in Portrush for my money, love the Braised Beef & Potato. Great staff, music and vibe. The ibeer garden has video poker! Paradise. 👏 Edit: poker is fair, true RNG.”
