About The Red Lantern
The Red Lantern is a Chinese restaurant at 57 North Hill in Plymouth, with a dine-in area where a waitress serves the tables. The menu leans on fried rice and noodle dishes, led by the special fried rice, and it also covers soups, curries, duck and ribs. Crispy chilli beef sits on the list next to salt and pepper chicken, and the chicken is often paired with chips and curry sauce for a takeaway-style plate. Orders for the dining room are taken at the table.

Customer Review Summary
Reviews split sharply, with fried rice and noodles the dishes named most. Fans praise the seafood fried noodles as dry and slightly salty and filling, and the duck as authentic and full of flavor. One takeaway customer describes hot, juicy, chunky pieces of meat that are not greasy. Dine-in reviewers mention a cozy, welcoming room and friendly staff. Critics are just as specific, and most of them ordered delivery. A beef chow mein was described as mostly fat with a few slivers of beef, and the chilli beef as tasteless in one review and tough in another. Chips arrived dry and overcooked, or tasting recycled from the day before. One reviewer found the special fried rice dry and heavy with turmeric, and another said the young chow fried rice wasn't what it claimed. One describes thin chicken and noodle soup with rotten chicken and soggy salt and pepper chicken. One diner waited far too long to be asked about drinks and had part of the meal cleared away as soon as the bill was paid.

“I loved the seafood fried noodles dry and slightly salty. Maybe add a bit more soya sauce to the veg side dishes but the food overall is amazing and filling. Will be back for more”
