About Master Chef
Master Chef is a Chinese takeaway in Plymouth, on North Hill. Orders for this kitchen go through a separate business, The New Dragon House, which takes them and passes them on, and the Uber Eats listing appears under that same name. Anyone placing an order should look for The New Dragon House rather than Master Chef. The menu includes chicken curry with curry sauce, chow mein and duck and pancakes. The kitchen opens in the evenings only and is closed on Tuesdays.

Customer Review Summary
Late delivery dominates the reviews, with most tied to orders placed through The New Dragon House, which reviewers say passes them on to Master Chef. Several describe waits of two to three hours, repeated unanswered calls, and food arriving cold. One reviewer reports a phone call in which they were told twice where the food was and then refused a refund. Food complaints are specific: a solid chicken curry, burnt chow mein and egg fried rice, soggy batter and crispy chilli chicken, curry sauce like porridge, and chicken balls described as undercooked. One long-time customer reports finding hair in the duck, and another says the order contained items they never requested. The minority praising the food call it hot, tasty and generous in portion, and one says it beat other Plymouth takeaways, though another with good food found the phone line hard to hear. Compensation offers recur, with two reviewers saying they were given 10% off, which one declined after a large order went wrong.

“Perfect taste for us, we tried it after a lot of disappointments with Chinese takeaways from Plymouth. This will definitely be visited from now on!”

“The food from here does not even deserve a one star. The chicken curry was set and solid. The batter was soft and soggy. Items on the order that we didn’t order. The worse tasting Chinese food ever. Our order was £170 ( family get together) and still they couldn’t get it right. When ordering, the guy didn’t even know the menu, turns out it was the new dragon house that took the order and then had to ring it through to master chef. He gave us 10% discount and then the driver demanded the full price. Asked for certain food changes but not even catered for. Absolutely disgusting. Should never be allowed to serve this food. Highly unrecommended. Stay away if you value your stomach.”

“The one star for this review is for the prawn crackers. The rest of the food was absolutely disgusting. The egg fried rice was burnt and gloopy. The crispy chilli chicken was slop and soggy. The curry sauce came out like the consistency of porridge. Quite frankly this is the worst dinner I have ever had and we all put it straight in the bin. We are very disappointed”

“I ordered via Uber Eats, the restaurant I ordered from was called The New Dragon House, SURPRISE!!! THE FOOD COMES FROM HERE!!! The Uber Eats number... a restaurant in Oxford! Their number via Google... 17 calls... why would you expect them to pick up once! The food was as standard as you could expect and still warm enough. But TWO AND A HALF HOURS WAIT IS RIDICULOUS!!! The worste experience I've ever had ordering food! DONT WASTE TIME OR MONEY”
