Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the staff and the steak and chips side of the menu, with the chips singled out as the best in Britain and the fish and chips called one of the best one reviewer had, with huge portions. Close behind are the chicken leek pie, the salmon, and the steak with peppercorn sauce and onion rings. The biscoff cheesecake draws repeated praise, and cocktails like a cosmo and a frozen strawberry daiquiri get a mention too. Several describe the staff as lovely, and one diner with a gluten intolerance says the kitchen made the onion rings in a gluten free batter and served a gluten free chocolate cake. The criticism is mixed in detail. One reviewer found the fish and chips lacking flavour even after a lot of salt, another asked for lentil soup and got watery veg soup, and a third notes that because the food is fresh, three people wanted filets but only two were available. One reviewer describes the wait staff helping to book a taxi home.

“Good food. Fish and Chips was one of best i had. Huge portions! Service great. Was easy to get a table as a walk-in (midweek)”

“I had only heard good things about this place and it had been recommended to me by several people, so I was really looking forward to trying it. Unfortunately, perhaps it was just an off day, but I found the fish and chips quite disappointing. There was very little flavour, even after adding quite a lot of salt. I’m sure this may have simply been an off day, especially given all the positive reviews, but unfortunately my experience didn’t live up to the expectations.”

“Great food and apparently mostly made from scratch and was delicious. Service was excellent with the wait staff even helping to book a taxi for us to head home. Nice quiet ambience so great for dinner conversations. Note though, as the food is fresh, they may have limited choices or quantities available on any given night, three of us wanted filets, but they only had two. But the other choices won't disappoint. Will definitely go back.”

“Visited here for the first time for a private function. Menu choice was varied and delicious. Our server a lovely red haired girl ( sorry didnt get her name) was super efficient and on the ball for our large party. Food was delicious and served perfectly timed. Will be back.”
