About The Harbour Inn
Overlooking the harbour, The Harbour Inn is a pub and restaurant on Roundham Road in Paignton. The building's position gives the front rooms a view over the water, and dogs are welcome throughout. The kitchen runs alongside the bar, and tables are set for both casual drinks and full meals. Booking is by reservation, and the room holds walk-ins when space allows. A late-evening crowd settles in once the dining service winds down, and the bar carries a familiar pub range of draught and bottled options for those stopping in just for a drink.

Customer Review Summary
Two very different experiences shape the picture: several reviewers praise the friendly staff, lovely harbour-side setting and events held there, while others report serious trouble. One describes a lost booking, tiny portions, tough chicken and soggy fish and chips, and no refund when they complained. Another diner reports a homophobic comment from a staff member. Most found the service attentive and the food good.

“I had my 50th birthday party at Harbour Inn and I cant fault it. Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient, food was great and the room was perfect. They made it very easy for me and it all went smoothly. I would definitely come here again for future events.”

“Calamitous experience — absolutely not worth the money - go to the Harbour Light. .... What should have been a straightforward meal at The Harbour Inn in Paignton turned into a complete calamity. We had called ahead and made a booking just half an hour before arriving, yet when we got there, they couldn't find the booking. Not exactly a great start. Things didn't improve once we were seated. The portion sizes were frankly laughable for the prices. I paid £13.50 for a burger that could have comfortably been eaten in four bites and then paid £5.50 to add some chips. Price wise on the high side but to be expected given the location. If the meal had been substantial and the chicken not tough as a old boots this would have been acceptable. One member of our party ordered fish and chips. Given that we were in Paignton, we thought this would surely be a safe bet. Unfortunately, it was anything but. The fish and chips arrived as a soggy, greasy and thoroughly unappetising mess. When we complained about the food, we were particularly disappointed that no refund or even any meaningful compensation was offered. Considering the quality of the meal and the issues we had already experienced, we expected at the very least for our complaint to be taken seriously and some effort to be made to put things right. Overall, this was one of the most disappointing meals we've had in a long time. Poor organisation, ridiculously small portions, overpriced food, disappointing quality and a complete lack of customer service when we raised our concerns. The location may be appealing, but unfortunately the food and service certainly weren't. We won't be returning and, based on our experience, wouldn't recommend it to others. The Harbour Light which we have frequented before is around the corner and much better, we sadly couldn't get in on this occasion.”

“The service and friendliness of the pub is phenomenal! The bar staff, expecially the one with purple hair and piercings (not to be named for confidentiality reasons) was really friendly and nice. I would visit there again, definately.”
