About The British Kitchen
Roast dinners carry the menu at The British Kitchen, a takeaway on Market Street in Oldham, with beef served alongside mash, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and gravy. Those roasts run midweek as well as on Sundays, so a Sunday-style meal is not limited to the weekend. Orders are placed by ringing the shop direct rather than booking a table, and there is no sit-down service, so meals are packed for eating at home. Delivery is also offered, including for Sunday lunch, which suits customers who would rather not collect. The kitchen can get busy, and ordering your meals at the point of calling is advised. Crumble with custard, in apple or other fruit versions, is among the desserts that regularly go out with orders. The shop trades Wednesday through Sunday and closes on Mondays and Tuesdays, and it posts its dishes on its social media page.

Customer Review Summary
The Sunday roast anchors nearly every account, with diners singling out beef so tender it "melts", creamy mash, roasties, Yorkshire puddings and gravy that several call the standout, all arriving piping hot. Close behind is the crumble and custard, apple or fruit, which one repeat customer calls a must, alongside old fashioned school cake and strawberry cheesecake. Others name the rag pudding with mash and mushy peas, fish and chips, and a cheese and onion pie with chips, red cabbage and gravy in a separate pot. Portions come in for repeated praise as generous and good value, and the counter and phone staff are described as friendly, jolly and welcoming even when flat out. One reviewer suggests ordering when ringing through, since it can get very busy. Delivery drew the same warmth, with quick arrival noted, and one group describes the owner recommending and preparing a suitable alternative so their vegetarian guest could eat alongside everyone else.

“This is my first time ordering from The British Kitchen and I will certainly be ordering again. The Roast dinner was beautiful. Plenty of meat and various vegetables with a generous helping of gravy. Followed by fruit crumble and custard. It has been a long time since I have tasted anything as good.”

“Such a friendly hilarious family run this fairly new takeaway shop - serving fresh, real northern English scran. I had a cheese and onion pie with chips, red cabbage and gravy in a separate pot, and I didn't regret it.”

“We had a Sunday lunch delivery, food was 10/10, it was really easy to order (we did so by calling the shop direct) Delivery was quick, the delivery guy was lovely, portions were huge, the beef was to die for, so tender and tasty. The extras are reasonably priced. We had a family friend over who doesn’t eat meat and the owner was excellent in preparing and recommending a suitable alternative so that she could enjoy a meal with us. Everyone, including my vegetarian guest was very happy, would recommend to anyone.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”
