Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the friendly staff and the generous, tasty pub food, with fish and chips and the burger named repeatedly. Close behind are the garlic mushrooms, the cheese and onion pies, braised steak with buttery mash, and a lamb dish one diner called outstanding. Starters like the tomato and red pepper soup and salmon fish cakes get mentions, and desserts such as Eton mess and brandy snap also earn praise. Several describe the early bird and Sunday lunch menus as good value, and a few call the surroundings comfortable and cozy. The main complaints concern seating and pace. One longtime family reviewer was twice placed in the busy, noisy bar area after asking for the restaurant, and was told it was full. Another regular found staff hovering, asking how the food was before a first bite and offering more drinks while glasses were still half full. One mentions a wait for mains on a fully booked day. Several suggest booking ahead because it gets very busy, and one notes food is served until 8pm.

“We have been going here as a family for many year's but the last two visits were very disappointing. We were recently seated in the bar area if the restaurant which was very busy and noisy so I specifically asked to be seated in the restaurant for our next visit. To my disbelief we were seates in the be bar area again and told the restaurant was full. This was made worse when a large party arrived to be seated befomus”

“Visited on Saturday evening for some food and have visited many times before, never had any complaints, the food is always consistently good and staff friendly. However on Saturday staff came across quite overbearing, hovering and circling round, I was asked how my food was before I had even taken my first bite and then asked again by another member of staff less than two minutes after, two members of staff asked us if we wanted to order more drinks whilst we still had half full drinks on the table. Unsure if there has been a change in management etc as we have visited many times and never had this issue, it has always felt more relaxed however this felt over the top and slightly uncomfortable.”

“Visited the Kings Arms with a group of four and had a really great experience from start to finish. The food was excellent and everything came out hot, fresh, and well presented. Three of us started with the garlic mushrooms, which were absolutely delicious full of flavour and a great portion size. I opted for the tomato and red pepper soup, which was rich, smooth, and clearly homemade. For mains, we had fish and chips and three cheese and onion pies. The fish was perfectly cooked with a light, crispy batter, and the chips were spot on. The pies were packed with filling and full of flavour. We finished with Eton mess for dessert, which was the perfect way to round off the meal light, sweet, and really tasty. Service was friendly and efficient throughout, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Overall, a lovely meal and we’ll definitely be returning.”

“Excellent service and delicious food at this out of the way country pub. It was cold outside but the warm welcome took care of that. Comfortable surroundings and elegantly decorated. We will definitely be back!”
