About Ree Ming
On Oldham Rd, Ree Ming is a Chinese takeaway and fish and chips shop run on a walk-in, family basis. The menu spans special chow mein, char siu, and special curry, alongside quarter duck, salt and pepper ribs, fried rice, salt and pepper chicken, foo yung, and gravy. The fryers can be run separately on request, which helps with dietary or cross-contamination concerns. It opens daily, and delivery is available for those eating off site.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers split sharply, with the chippy side drawing the praise and the Chinese dishes drawing most of the complaints. Admirers point to big portions, food that stays hot on a long walk home, and the gravy, and even a mixed review calls the chips nice. Staff are described as polite, friendly and welcoming, and one reviewer values the family-run feel. The criticism is specific. A few diners found the rice dry and hard, and the salt and pepper chicken and ribs tough, dry and tasteless. One reviewer described the crispy shredded beef as slimy batter with no crunch, another called the special chow mein greasy noodles with tough char siu, and a third found the curry tasteless. A delivery order reportedly arrived with warm chips, bland vegetable fried rice and no salt and vinegar, even after a call back to ask for it. One reviewer, a Muslim nurse, thanked the staff for cooking her chips in a separate fryer.

“Just want to say amazing service as a Muslim nurse the staff were amazing to cook chips in a separate fryer to ensure no cross contamination despite them cooking the chips normally in the same oil could not be grateful enough thankyou”

“This place is awful, went for the first time this week as it seemed to have good reviews but it was far from good. The special chow mein was just greasy noodles with very poor quality meat, the char siu was just tough pork with no flavour at all, the beef and chicken the same, tough with zero flavour, no veg at all, it was terrible, much more care and better produce could and should be used, absolutely no Chinese flavours at all. Now this 1 dish alone tells me how the rest of the menu will be, awful, cooked with no care and poor produce. We got 1 more dish, special curry which the curry sauce was ok but the poor meat ruined it. Yet another Chinese chippy giving poor food for good money, all those that wrote good reviews have no taste for good food. Avoid this place, they don't deserve your money.”
