Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come back to the fish and chips, with fat chips and a tasteful batter cooked in clean oil, and one praising the fish on a butty. Close behind is the staff: several describe friendly counter workers who greet regulars with a smile and know their order before it is said, and one describes a server who brought out the full allergen guide for a food allergy. A diner also enjoyed pudding chips and gravy, and another had a curry on the side. Regulars cite decades of reliable meals, and a few mention good value, though one notes prices have risen. The complaints are sharp but come from a minority. Two recent reviewers say quality has slipped, describing dry chips, hard peas and tiny, tasteless fish, and one suspects a change of ownership. Another reports rubbery, hard scallops bought late morning that they believed were reheated leftovers from the day before, and binned them. One reviewer who first praised the place says the last few visits were disappointing. A swapped herbal tea with the fish and chips special is among the small touches reviewers recall.

“This place has gone down hill. No taste. Dry chips. Hard peas. Awfully tiny, tasteless fish. My guess is the ownership has changed over the last couple of years. Not close to what it used to be.”

“Me and my dad always go in and are greeted with a smile always, the ladies behind the counter know our order before we’ve even said it :) The food is always lovely and we wouldn’t go to any other chippy! ❤️”

“Good old fashioned fish and chip shop. Great options but chose the fish and chips special, they let me swap my tea out for herbal tea. Food was fab and the fish was gorgeous on a butty. Staff very friendly and very chilled atmosphere.”

“Bought 2 scallops and portion of chips today at 11.40. Got them home and they looked disgusting and tasted even worse. They were rubbery and hard. Obviously they were leftovers warmed up from day before. If it hadn't been so cold outside I would have taken them back and thrown them at them. Obviously profit comes before customer satisfaction and safety. So do not go early for anything from here its leftovers. Absolutely disgusting, good mind to get trading standards involved they tasted so bad went straight in bin.”
