  “I have recommended this place before and have used it for a long time however horrendous experience today. Arrived 12.30 checked out after 2.20. Waited 40 mins for soup to arrive. The butter portions on all 4 plates were oil !! Just missed my friends trousers 👖 ( did I mention it was his birthday!) Soup was spilt all over the plates and napkins. Steak sandwich is now small slithers of curly meat drowned in red onion. Macaroni bland. 3 meals delivered and 10 mins later 4th meal arrived (birthday boys !) To add insult to injury when I was paying the bill I was asked if everything was OK. I said not really and I left it at that. She then went on to ask what was wrong. I told her we had been there for hours and she started her tirade which she was clearly anxious to get off her chest. Apparently we were clocked arriving at 13:00 and our drinks arrived at 13:08 to be precise. How fortunate she had that information to hand ?? Even although it was nonsense. She was pointing her finger and being so rude. Everyone knew. I was mortified and told her if she didnt like the answer she shouldn't ask the question. She said...I thought you were going to say the food was bad !! I told her it was. As I was walking out she (for some reason) shouted "Im the Manager" I told her she shouldn't be because her customer skills were not up to it. £73 for 4 soups and bland Macaroni a non steak baguette gammon steak fish and 4 soft drinks. Not a bargain. Happy Birthday Won't be back and I would strongly recommend you give it a miss”

  “Had a lovely lunch here, a long awaited catch up with 2 sisters. The food was amazing, the service was excellent and the view was brilliant. Best part for us, we chatted away until we hadn't noticed the place had closed and nobody came to usher us out the door. Thoroughly brilliant!”

  “I am not one for posting reviews, but on this occasion I feel I have to after reading a review that I knew was going to be posted as the lady in question made it very clear that she was posting a review about the staff at the waterfront, I understand that everyone has different experiences I can’t comment on her tables food but to blatantly lie about the waiting staff when she was the one that raised her voice at someone trying to make a living, and yes you should be humiliated by you attitude, she was in the cafe no more than 2 hour I know this because she was in front of myself and husband to be seated at there table, and left just before us, if she was as regular as us she would know there is a new owner, new chefs an no it wont be the same as before (her words) basic respect for staff shouldn’t be optional, on a better note our food was delicious I had the prawn baguette with fries the dressing on the salad is so yummy and my husband had haddock and chips, to the waitress that she spoke to like a dog before we left you don’t deserve to get spoken to like that by anyone”

  “Quiet place out the way which is a lovely drive to get to, the food is always amazing and well priced. Busy little restaurant and you can see why with the quality of the food. Great views over their fishery too! Love visiting this charming place.”

  “Good place for lunch if you don't like large towns. Outside of Ayr and in the country, this place has lovely views of the fishing lake and a large well priced menu. Our food was served speedily and was excellent. Really friendly service and a very good value menu. Very relaxing and enjoyable.”

  “This was my first time here. I had not idea about it. It is such a lovely setting. The menu is quite big and the food we ordered was all great. I had a Philly cheesesteak. There are lots of cakes to choose from at the entrance. Out the back is lovely sitting area with a view across the lake. Staff were very kind and helpful.”

  “This is an amazing little cafe! Well worth a visit. It sits a little way back from the main road but its an excellent find. Located next to a beautiful little fishery, the cafe is a good size and boasts a conservatory area and veranda where you can watch the fishermen at work. The food is incredibly tasty and very reasonably priced. You get a lot of bang for your buck here. Staff are very friendly and attentive.”
