About Hickory's Smokehouse Nuthall
Hickory's Smokehouse Nuthall is an American smokehouse restaurant on Mornington Cres in Nottingham, with NFL games on its screens. The Pitmasters cook the barbecue low n' slow, and the 16-hour smoked brisket is the centrepiece. The menu follows an American diner style and is printed newspaper-style. Memphis baby ribs come as a half rack, corn dogs work as a starter, and a sharing platter is sized for two. The restaurant serves brunch, lunch and dinner, and also pours drinks for those who only come in for a round. The format is walk-in, and there is a wait at the bar before seating. Birthday diners receive a complimentary donut.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often return to the sharing platters and smoky BBQ meats, which one reviewer calls tender and another paired with a hot dog for their child. Close behind are the Memphis baby ribs, corn dogs, Frickles, chicken tacos and macaroni cheese, while the grape soda, over-the-top milkshakes and American style sundaes draw their own praise. One reviewer passed on the cheese-stuffed sausage and settled on a solid burger. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly, with mentions of effort made for a small child and menu tweaks for an intolerance. Portions are called great and plentiful, and the atmosphere relaxed and lively, though one reviewer expects it gets loud at peak times and another, finding the place rammed on Mothers Day, thought booking a table wise. Price is the recurring complaint. Several call it pricey or slightly overpriced, and one found an IPA dearer than the local pubs, though most felt the portions justified it. Two birthday diners were given a complimentary donut after their meal.

“Good food at this smokehouse, everything felt freshly cooked, all good was full of flavour. Staff were really friendly and nice, made effort with our little one. Very relaxed atmosphere, it was overall a really good experience, would definitely recommend visiting this place if you are wanting some BBQ food. We had the sharing platter for two of us and my little boy had the hot dog, which he enjoyed and we enjoyed the sharing platter.”

“Wow, we have put off visiting here as just didn't fancy it. Anyway we went for our anniversary and we was blown away by the food both flavour and price. As a starter we shared two corn dogs and the Frickles both lovely. Mains consisted of 1/2 rack of Memphis baby ribs and the chargrilled chicken wraps with a side of macaroni cheese, all dishes were amazing being lovely and hot and plentiful. We shall go again. The only downside was the price of a IPA beer at £6.50 way more than the local public houses”

“Hickory's brings full-on American diner vibes 🇺🇸 — from the newspaper-style menus to the classic grape soda — and I'm not mad about it. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, and just a genuinely fun place to be. Went with a friend who is emotionally invested in their sausage 😂. Tried it — it's stuffed with cheese, which is either your dream or your dealbreaker. For me? A respectful pass. Played it safe with a burger — solid, no regrets. But the real star of the show was the grape soda. Absolutely elite. The milkshakes look like something off Pinterest — over-the-top, dramatic, and somehow they actually deliver on taste too. Bonus points for the kids' play area and clean, spacious accessible bathrooms 👍 — always appreciated. Would I go again? Yeah — if only to keep my friend happy and get my hands on another grape soda. The sausage, though? That's between them and their cheese. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ — four stars, and the sausage knows why.”

“Hickory’s is an absolute treat from start to finish. The food is full of flavour the BBQ meats are smoky, tender, and cooked to perfection, and the sides are just as delicious. The desserts are a highlight too, especially the fun, American style sundaes. The whole experience feels warm and relaxed, with great presentation and a lively atmosphere. It’s the kind of place you leave feeling completely satisfied and already thinking about your next visit. Highly recommend!”
