About Oak Tree Norwich
Oak Tree Norwich is a pub and restaurant on Ipswich Road in Norwich, part of the Norfolks Inn group. The kitchen turns out home cooked food across a pub menu, with lunch and evening service in the dining room. Dogs are welcome throughout, and the surrounding garden gives the place a quiet, easy feel that suits a long afternoon. The team handles walk-ins throughout the week, and the pub also takes bookings for groups in the main dining area. Service runs from midday into the evening, and the kitchen closes earlier than the bar on some days.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers split sharply on the food. Several praise the home-cooked meals and generous portions in a friendly, peaceful setting, singling out the "delicious" fare and inviting staff. Others, however, describe a clear decline since a change in ownership, citing frozen or pre-made dishes, greasy lasagne, soggy veg, and "by the numbers" cooking, with one diner calling it "like a spoons." A few also note worn furnishings.

“Stopped off as a change of scenery from our hotel stay to have dinner and drinks on our way back from Norwich City Centre. Very glad we did! The food was delicious, amazing portion size, bigger than expected so couldn't fit in a dessert as we were completely stuffed! The staff were super friendly and inviting. Would definitely recommend visiting if you’re looking for honest home cooked food in a friendly setting. Look forward to eating here again on our next visit up from Devon.”

“This place was recommended for Sunday lunch. However we arrived too late. My husband had fish and chips, which he said was OK. My sister had pie, chips and veg. She's and the chips looked great but she could taste the fat they were cooked in and the carrotw were a disgrace, soggy and tasteless. I had lasagne with 2 pieces og of garlic bread that you could tile a roof with. Lasagne running with grease. All in all very disappointing and expensive for what it was. Not a good intro to food in Norfolk.”

“Terrible pre-made (frozen?) food. Service pretty neutral. Chair arms upholstery was worn out down to the wood. Not recommended.”

“It's fine not really happy with them since the switch to the norfolks inn group the food has gotten a lot worse and tastes a lot more by the numbers where before the specials and general food quality was superb it's now like a spoons. The place is still nice service is fine but I won't be going back as food was the main draw before.”
