About Bombay Chow

Bombay Chow is a modern Indian restaurant in Northwood, set within Haste Hill Golf Club, where a Gymkhana-style dining room looks out over the course. The kitchen cooks Indian and Indo-Chinese food, pairing Mumbai-style dishes with fusion plates such as the lotus stem kung pao. Vegetarian and Jain options run through the menu, and paneer dishes like kadai paneer sit among them. The chefs have worked in hotels in India and the U.K. A sizzling brownie is on the dessert side. A private function room holds up to 120 guests, and groups book it for anniversary parties and client dinners.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the Indo-Chinese dishes, with the lotus stem kung pao described as exceptional and crispy, and the sizzling brownie called a highlight. Close behind are the crispy spinach chaat, kadai paneer and paneer butter masala, along with the pudina lachha paratha and Bombay Chow kulcha. One reviewer says the Mumbai-style food reminded them of akuri, and another praises the English breakfast. Several mention the golf course views, the friendly, attentive service, and the range of vegetarian and Jain options. Hosts of a client dinner and an anniversary party describe food that arrived hot and staff who handled dietary needs and a late night smoothly. The main criticism comes from one Saturday dinner: a cold starter, requested chutneys that never arrived, loud music indoors, outside tables that needed shouting to flag a waiter, and a Railway Goat curry with watery sauce and few lamb pieces. A promised bill adjustment for the cold starter was not applied, according to that diner.

“Really lovely experience at Bombay Chow. The vibe is relaxed with beautiful golf course views, and the food was full of flavour — especially loved the Indo-Chinese dishes. The sizzling brownie was a highlight! Friendly service and just a really nice place to unwind. I’ll definitely be back 🤍”

“I went there with my friend in the weekday as he is a regular there, thought it was good, so took family over on Saturday evening. We sat inside was told If you sit outside won't be able to come in if it's too hot, soon as we sat loud music started so I asked to go outside which they accommodated but the service outside is hit and miss you have to shout to flag down a waiter when the come out, there is no one checking to see if all the outside tables are ok? Overall bit of a disaster, food starter came Cold, next table has same issue they sent to back too, she said will remove it off the bill, which they clearly didn't, I paid in full £230 for four without bottle of wine or much drinks or desserts Asked for chutney's with starters which never came Railway Goat curry comes with two potatoes and four pieces of lamb and lots of watery sauce was totally different to what I had in the week was rich thick sauce and more lamb pieces Rest of the food was okay If you seat outside if weather good it's great, they have a function room which can be busy, plenty of parking. Only realised after posting the Food Hygiene Rating of 3* is only satisfactory, sadly not great in my view when I have run restaurants and shops and had 5* over the past 30 years Son was not impressed as he is a foodie person and knows his restaurants and quality of food Won't be rushing back, would recommend with caution”
