About The Shed Cafe

On The Causeway in Northampton, The Shed Cafe serves breakfasts and lunches through the week, with The Belly Buster on the menu for anyone after a full plate. Bacon rolls and fresh orange juice cover the lighter end, and homemade cakes, including a cherry crumble, sit alongside, with custom cakes such as dairy-free options available by phone or WhatsApp with advance notice. Food is cooked fresh to order and brought out to the table. Seating spans inside and outdoor tables under a gazebo, and dogs are welcome at either. A step-free, wheelchair-accessible entrance serves visitors with mobility needs, and high chairs are on hand for families with young children. Reservations are recommended, as a wait for a table can build up when the cafe is busy. It opens Tuesday to Sunday during the day, closed on Mondays.

Customer Review Summary

The Belly Buster breakfast draws the most repeated praise, described as generous, hot and, as one diner put it, doing "exactly what it says on the tin." Close behind, reviewers highlight the bacon rolls with fresh orange juice, the cherry crumble, and creamy lattes, alongside a custom dairy free birthday cake one customer arranged by phone and WhatsApp for a child's party. Several mention the warm, informal welcome from staff, with more than one reviewer recalling being greeted as "darlin'" or "darling," and note that food is cooked fresh to order and brought out even when the place is busy. The main recurring caveat is wait times, with one reviewer citing a thirty minute wait for food and suggesting booking a table in advance, though most frame the wait as tied to volume of orders rather than poor service. Reviewers describe returning multiple times, with one noting a repeat visit months later where the cooked breakfast was again well received.

“This little place was amazing Only small but had seating outside and some tables under gazebo. The staff were polite and very helpful A variety of different things on the menu. Every table was cleaned immediately The food was yummy We had breakfast It was cooked fresh when you order. We didn't have to wait long. It came to our table well presented and fresh and piping hot. We went here on our last 2 days in Northampton Only wish we had found it sooner. A personal homely touch with fab staff. Loved it and highly recommend.”

“My brother and I popped in here this morning on a whime. Staff were very friendly and sat us right away. Its a lovly little cafe, offering a lot of items. We both had a large bacon roll which was either 3.50 or 4.50. Big soft bap and alot of bacon inside. Bacon was cooked how i like it, with a nice bit of crisp to give texture but not over done. Was cooked fresh and brought to the table. We both then had a glass of fresh orange juice, which was smooth. [Im not a fan of bits in it]. I would recomennd and likly to return as well.”

“The Shed Cafe is a small café with a big heart. You’ll find all the classic staples on the menu, plus a great selection of homemade cakes. I went for the Belly Buster at £12.95 and it was excellent value — a really generous portion and perfect for a big breakfast. With a large orange juice and a black coffee, the total came to £15, which felt very reasonable. The food was good quality and came out fairly quickly despite the portion size. Overall, a really enjoyable visit and I’d happily return.”
