About Bridgeview Station Restaurant

Bridgeview Station Restaurant is a bistro and breakfast restaurant on Riverside Dr in Dundee, open for walk-ins and bookings throughout the day. The kitchen serves breakfast options such as french toast and scrambled eggs, with coffee, tea and cakes available alongside. The room is set up for tables of various sizes, with seating found for booked parties even when walk-ins are initially turned away at the door. Service is at the counter for coffee and lighter items, with full table service for the breakfast and bistro menu. Slow service and long waits before orders are taken have been reported by customers. The menu spans the breakfast service into bistro dishes through the rest of the day, giving it a gastropub feel without the bar focus.

Customer Review Summary

Service is the recurring complaint. Several describe slow ordering, with one waiting around 15 minutes only after flagging down a passing staff member. One group was told nothing was available, then found a table once they booked online. Another reviewer reports a disabled party left standing while staff chatted. At one lunch, the flat iron steak baguette arrived undercooked and fatty, and a coffee never came until chased at the counter. One tea drinker received a cup with baked-on residue and bitter, stewed Earl Grey. Even a reviewer who calls the French Toast unbeatable adds that it is worth the wait, and a walk-in who enjoyed a good breakfast says they would return but book first.

“We visited the Bridge View Station Cafe on August 15th around 2:00 PM for tea and coffee. We love the location and would like to be regular customers, but the service and quality during our visit fell well below the standard expected for the prices charged. We hope management can address the following areas for improvement: Staff Training & Hospitality: Our server (a young man in his 20s) seemed unhappy to be there, was quite blunt, and showed visible reluctance when we asked to rectify issues. Refresher training on basic customer service and handling mistakes with a positive attitude would make a huge difference. Order Accuracy & Service Flow: Our Earl Grey order was mix-managed twice—first bringing the wrong item, then the wrong variation. We also had to ask twice for hot water refills. Improving communication between the order counter and server would help avoid these delays. Drink Quality & Equipment Care: One of our tea cups arrived with old residue baked onto the inside, which had to be sent back. Additionally, the tea served was overly stewed and bitter. Standardizing brew times and ensuring thorough dishwashing procedures are essential. We share this feedback because we genuinely want to see this local spot succeed and improve. We hope to return in the future for a much better experience.”

“The food was lovely but service needs work - very slow (for example took 15 mins for our order to be taken and that was only because we asked a passing staff member). Also, we got served a tiny portion of milk for 2 drinks, the americano was only half full and the cake slices were very inconsistent (one big one small despite it being the same type of cake). The staff members are very personable and were apologetic, but the slow service would but us off returning.”

“We visit Dundee a few times a year to see family, and it has become a tradition to have breakfast at the Bridge View Café. The breakfasts are always enjoyable , and the staff are usually friendly and welcoming. On this visit, we had booked a table for six. When we arrived, it immediately became apparent that the waitress serving us was not having a good morning. She made no eye contact and came across as unfriendly and unprofessional while taking our order. We chose to overlook this and returned the following morning for breakfast. Unfortunately, we were greeted by the same waitress. After giving her the name for our booking, she remained behind the counter and pointed us towards a table around the corner. When we got there, it was already occupied by five people enjoying their breakfast. We pointed this out, but there was no apology. Instead, another member of staff stepped in and quickly found us a suitable table. Throughout our breakfast, the waitress continued to serve us with the same cold and unfriendly manner as the previous day. Thankfully, this experience has been the exception rather than the rule. We have enjoyed many lovely breakfasts at the Bridge View Café over the years, and those positive experiences are what will bring us back. I hope this feedback is taken constructively and that the waitress receives the support and training needed for a front-of-house role, where a welcoming and professional manner is such an important part of the customer experience. We look forward to visiting again on our next trip to Dundee and hope to enjoy a helpful and warm service we have always experienced in the past.”
