  “Always a fantastic experience visiting the ladies at Whickham Fish Kitchen. The food and service are both excellent. Food served in a box as well so it doesn't go soggy like it does in paper. Highly recommended.”

  “It's fine and seems popular with locals. It's about £16 for prime cod and chips with tartare sauce and lemon included. The fish was broken in two. The batter was spongy. The chips were also soggy and not crisp, having got stuck to the paper in the box. Not a huge portion of chips either.”

  “Nicola was brilliant, great food and even better service. We had 3 fish haddock suppers which were massive. Will be returning next time I’m down in Newcastle”

  “Was at shop nearby and the smell was delicious. Popped in for haddock, a cod and a portion of chips today. Staff friendly and polite. Delicious food, great attention to detail - fish comes with a decent portion of tartare sauce and chunky slice of fresh lemon. Ate them in the car. Nicest I've had in a long time. Tasty, hot, fresh and seasoned to perfection. Thank you”

  “Came here after reading good reviews. Sorry to say the reviews are good probably because the chippys close by are so bad. Fish looked nothing like their photos, was swimming in grease, really thin and as well as being tasteless, we found some bones. The batter tasted as if too much flour had been used. Chips were pale and slightly undercooked and looked like they were pre-cooked catering chips. Gave 2 stars as my son loved the cod bites. Such a shame as the presentation and the shop itself was really nice.”

  “Absolutely beautiful fish and chips. Cooked in dripping so you don't get the greasy claggy taste in your mouth. Tartar sauce is gorgeous as well, my new favourite!”
