Customer Review Summary
Breakfast draws the most praise at Tambo Lounge, with reviewers singling out a full English described as the closest to a homemade fry up, alongside a BLT on sourdough and hot, flavourful coffee. Close behind is the wide, varied menu, including a separate full vegan menu, a Buddha bowl, Sri Lankan curry, Mediterranean mezze grill and mixed skewers with some asian fusion. Diners also mention breads and dips, and a chickpea curry described as sweet, creamy and just the right spice. Reviewers describe the staff as polite and attentive, the atmosphere as relaxed and quirky, and ordering by app or QR code from the table as easy. Several note the dog friendly setup, with a station offering water bowls and treats. The main criticism is service: one reviewer found it slow, saying the staff seemed understaffed and stressed, and another called it just ok. The same lunch reviewer found the rice obviously the microwave variety. Many call prices reasonable, and one praises the clean toilets.

“Went for a full English breakfast, the place we were going to was shut today so we decided to give Tambo Lounge a try. The food was excellent and we really enjoyed it. Tea was lovely too, I like it when it's a golden brown colour. Would definitely visit again.”

“Usually go here for working lunches. Food is great with a good choice for all diets. I had the chickpea curry and it was delicious, sweet, creamy, just the right spice. Rice was obviously the microwave variety but it was OK. Service was a bit slow on this occasion, they seemed understaffed and a bit stressed.”

“We popped in for the first time after checking out the menu and were very pleased. We have a sister bar in West Bridgford, so knew it was going to be good. Newark was wet n windy but Tambo was busy and looked cozy. Service was great, a simple selection from the app and drinks were quuckly on the way. The food selection is varied and a bit different to standard pub fare, with some asian fusion. I had the mixed skewers and they were really tasty. Breads and dips were good too. I nice warming lunch on a miserable day.”
