Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the pub food, with homemade steak pie and beef and ale pie coming up repeatedly, and the portions described as large or massive. Close behind are haggis fritters on creamy mash, cajun chicken, scampi and chips, and homemade sticky toffee pudding, while one diner calls the chicken nachos fresh made. Staff are described as friendly and attentive, and one reviewer says nothing was a bother for a group of six. Another says the staff accommodated a booking for a get together after a funeral, with sandwiches, sausage rolls and scotch pies. The cosy stone and wooden beam interior and the view over the river Avon get repeated mentions, and one reviewer suggests booking a table on a summer day. The one critical review comes from a dog owner who drove seven hours after reading that the pub was dog friendly, only to find no dogs are allowed after 6pm on a weekend, and says the website should make this clearer. Another reviewer mentions that no service charge was added.

“Staff were able to accommodate a booking for me for a get together after my dad's funeral. Food supplied was out of this world. Lovely sandwiches, best sausage rolls and scotch pies I've ever tasted, tasty chicken strips. Staff were fantastic, very pleasant and professional given the circumstances of the booking. Reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend”

“Nestled alongside the River Avon in the tranquil Millheugh area, The Applebank Inn is a charming slice of Scottish history dating back to the early 1700s. Stepping inside, you're greeted by a cosy interior with exposed stone and wooden beams, where friendly and attentive staff make you feel right at home. The menu offers excellent, freshly cooked pub grub with generous portions from homemade steak pie to haggis fritters and there's a great selection of drinks including highly recommended cocktails. Dog-friendly and with a lovely outdoor seating area overlooking the river, it’s the perfect spot for a relaxed meal. Oh, and if you're feeling brave, keep an eye out for the "Black Lady" it's certified as one of the most haunted pubs in Britain!”

“After reading reviews that you’re a dog friendly pub, we’ve just driven 7hrs to a cottage a few doors down from you to find out no dogs after 6pm on a weekend, if we had known we’d have eaten at a services on the way. Now have to go back out to get in shopping to cook - should make it more clearer on your website”
