About Mangal Plus
Mangal Plus is a Turkish restaurant at 43 Stratford Rd in Milton Keynes, with a charcoal grill at the centre of its cooking. Lamb shish and lamb kofte come off that grill, and the lamb shish is also offered in a medium portion. Kebabs arrive with salad, bulgur rice and bread, and mezes and salad are served alongside the meals. The chilli and garlic sauces are made fresh in house to go with the grilled meat. Lamb shish is the draw reviewers raise most, described as soft, tender and never chewy, and often ordered with bulgur rice, salad and bread. Close behind are the chicken doner and mixed kebab, which reviewers call fresh, juicy and generously portioned. The chargrilled cooking gets repeated credit, along with the mezes and the chilli and garlic sauces made in house. Several mention friendly, welcoming staff, and one Turkish diner says the food tastes authentic. Reviewers are not all satisfied with the meat: one found the standard donner meat less impressive and another wishes the lamb doner used proper lamb chunks instead of minced meat. “Real and authentic Turkish food with generous portions. Chicken doner and all kebabs are especially fresh and clearly prepared with care. The bulgur rice, sauces, and salad were all fresh and fantastic as well. The staff are really nice guys and make you feel welcome. Would love to see the lamb doner prepared in-house the same way as their amazing chicken, using proper lamb chunk meat rather than the standard minced lamb doner style. That would make it even better.”
