About Khyber Chefs - Pak/Indian Halal Food Restaurant in Milton Keynes
On Stratford Road in Milton Keynes, Khyber Chefs serves Afghan, Pakistani and Indian dishes as a halal restaurant. The Kabuli Pulao, topped with sweetened carrots and raisins, anchors the menu, alongside charsi karahi and chapli kebab. A tawa for sharing comes with daal included, suited to larger tables. The kitchen prepares food fresh to order, so dishes can take time to reach the table, and reservations are recommended given this. A step-free entrance allows access for visitors with mobility needs, high chairs are available for families with young children, and outdoor seating gives an option for eating outside. The restaurant opens daily. For those eating off site, home delivery covers items such as naan and the Kabuli Pulao.

Customer Review Summary
Kabuli Pulao draws the most attention, praised by several as rich and authentic, though one delivery customer felt it was bland and unrecognizable and reported finding a piece of plastic in the dish. Close behind, the charsi karahi, chapli kebab, and Tawa platters come up repeatedly, with diners calling the lamb tender and the daal flavourful, and multiple reviewers noting generous portions and fair pricing that leave leftovers to take home. The Lahori Karahi and chai also get specific praise from those who tried them. The recurring complaint is slow service during busy periods, with a couple of reviewers suggesting an extra server would help, and one diner describing consistently dirty, bad-smelling toilets along with being charged full price for biryani served without raita after it had run out. A separate reviewer reported receiving 20 naan with 7 badly burned inside a bulk order. Despite this, one group recalled staff going out of their way to correct a forgotten item on their platter once the omission was noticed.

“Food was fine, but the overall experience wasn’t good. We have to always wait a long time after ordering (been there thrice now). Meanwhile I went to toilets and the toilets are consistently dirty and smell really bad. Also, last time they served biryani with raita, but this time they didn’t—and no one told us. Only after I asked, in the end, did they say it had run out, yet we were still charged full price. I paid without arguing, but this place has lost me as a customer.”

“I went with a large group of friends, most of whom have a requirement for halal food. This is a very authentic restaurant and I've been three times recently. Every time, I've had good value for money. The portions are very large so nobody leaves hungry! Everything has just the right level of spice and flavour. The service isn't as quick as some restaurants but the service was attentive and they even went out of their way to rectify a part of the platter that they forgot to add earlier that none of us even realised they'd omitted.”

“The Ultimate Kabuli Pulao Experience! 🍛✨ If you are a fan of authentic Afghan cuisine, this place serves the most incredible Kabuli Pulao I have ever tasted in this city. From the aroma to the very last bite, it is a masterclass in traditional cooking. The Highlights 🌟 • The Rice: Perfectly long-grain, non-sticky, and infused with a rich, savory broth that carries the essence of the meat. • The Meat: The lamb was so tender it literally fell off the bone. It was succulent, juicy, and cooked to perfection. • The Toppings: What truly set this dish apart was the generous topping of sweetened carrots and plump raisins. The balance between the savory rice and the slight sweetness of the caramelized carrots was spot on. • Authenticity: It didn't feel like a fusion dish; it tasted like a home-cooked meal straight from a traditional kitchen. The Verdict 🏆 • Taste: 10/10 (Bold and authentic) • Portion Size: Very generous—perfect for sharing (though you might want it all to yourself!). • Must-Try: Pair it with their fresh naan and a side of chilled yogurt raita for the full experience. This is hands down the best Kabuli Pulao in town. If you haven't tried it yet, you are seriously missing out on a culinary gem!”

“We had a fantastic experience at Khyber Chefs in Milton Keynes and would highly recommend it. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, friendly, and attentive, which made us feel very welcome. A big compliment to the chef for preparing such delicious food. We ordered the Tawa for 6, and the portion sizes were incredibly generous—perfect for sharing. The daal included in the Tawa was especially enjoyable, full of flavour and cooked beautifully. We also tried the Lahori Karahi on the chef’s recommendation, and it absolutely lived up to the praise—it was rich, aromatic, and truly outstanding. Overall, the food was full of great flavours, the portions were excellent, and it offered great value for money. It was a really enjoyable dining experience, and we’ll definitely be returning!”

“I ordered 20 naan from Khyber Chef, but unfortunately 7 of them were badly burned. I had ordered them for my colleagues, and it was quite embarrassing for me when we opened the pack and saw the burnt naan inside. I hope the restaurant pays more attention to quality control and checks orders properly before packing them for customers. I would appreciate better care in the future.”
