Customer Review Summary
Bunny chow is the dish reviewers name most, with one calling the bunny chows a favourite and another ordering the beef bunny. Close behind are the Boerie Bites, the oxtail and butter bean curry, the pap and sous, and sausages in a spicy sauce with beans, all described as flavourful. Several say the food reminds them of home, and one adds that the cream soda is proper. Diners also describe the decor as full of character, with plenty to look at, and the hostess as warm and welcoming. The criticism comes from a few reviews. One diner travelled for a dish and found crocodile steak still listed online and on the entrance board, though it had not been served for two years. The same reviewer waited a long time for a waiter to take the order. Another found a steak overcooked, small and thin, with the asparagus ends left on, nothing like the delivery photo. A platter listed ostrich but arrived with a different meat, and the wine came warm, with only an offer to put a bottle in the fridge.

“Very flavourful South African food. The sausages really tasted good in a spicy sauce with beans.”

“An okay meal, but let down by service and an outdated menu The food here is actually okay, but the overall experience was a bit disappointing due to a few management and service issues. Outdated Menu: They still list items like crocodile steak and certain wine varieties on their website and the entrance board. We traveled a considerable distance specifically for a certain dish, only to find out they haven't actually had it for two years. Missing Ingredients: We ordered a platter that was supposed to include ostrich meat, but that was missing too. It had to be replaced with a different type of meat. Given the high price of the platter, this was very disappointing. Warm Wine: The wine was served warm and they didn’t have any chilled options ready. While they offered to put a bottle in the fridge for us, it takes too long to reach the right temperature when you are already waiting to eat. Slow Service: We had to wait quite a long time for a waiter to take our order, and it took a while just to get our drinks. Even after that, we waited a long time for someone to pass by our table and check if we needed anything else, despite the restaurant not being very crowded. Pricing: The prices are on the higher side. Considering the issues with ingredient availability, un-updated menus, and service speed, it didn't feel like good value for money. It has potential because the food is decent, but they really need to update their menus and improve service efficiency.”

“Me and my wife have to come here more often! The food is delicious and it’s so nice to get some proper cream soda. The bunny chows are my favourite and they are all a much try.”

“Braai Shack in Wolverton is a really unique place with a great South African feel throughout. The decor is interesting and full of character, creating a welcoming and authentic atmosphere. The menu offers a wide variety of food choices and everything we ordered was served hot, fresh, and packed with flavour. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but the public parking near the church is a convenient alternative. Overall, the food was delicious, the experience was memorable, and it genuinely felt like a little taste of South Africa in Milton Keynes.”

“I am totally disgusted by the miss guided pictures and information that is displayed. As you can see my meat was over cooked, small and very thin , I feel cheered . The glorified Deliveroo pictured JUICY, MEDIUM MELT IN YOUR MOUTH. I can just about bite into it, the asparagus have the ends still on so not a nice bite. I am sick & tired of looking at a picture and “believing “ I will get as seen. “ sold as seen” Food disgusting and fit for the bin. Meaning wasting whooping £35 on - uneditable food Over cooked meat Asparagus with ends on A waste of build up as I was expecting the delicious picture. Maybe I should have just ate the picture instead. So incredibly disappointed 😡😡😡”
