About Whinstone View
Whinstone View is a restaurant in Middlesbrough on Whinstone View, set within grounds that also hold log-style cabins, most with kitchens, and a spa. Guests can stay on site in the guest lodges, and a garden area is there for walking around. The menu includes chicken parmo, a roast served at Sunday lunch, and a set menu on weekday evenings. A private dining room gives groups a space of their own, and dogs are welcome. The grounds also work as a wedding venue with a barn and a lodge, so events can affect availability on some days.

Customer Review Summary
Chicken parmo is the dish reviewers name most, with one diner finding it good but wanting thicker chicken, and another ordering it alongside fish and chips and rump steak after starters of duck pancakes, scotch egg and chicken wings. Close behind is the terrace with its garden view, where one party ate in the sun without the lodge wedding nearby making it noisy. Diners also single out the moules, the lamb, a decadent dessert, and attentive, friendly service. Others describe the lodges as quiet and the wedding barn as beautifully decorated. The criticism is specific. At a Sunday lunch the gravy covered the dinner and left the roast potatoes soggy, one diner found the linguine only okay, and another table had to ask servers a couple of times for things. A pizza oven was unavailable during a wedding, though that party was told when they called to book. One reviewer was seated at a table near the bar, opposite the toilets and till, with a view of an overflowing rubbish bin and a mop and bucket, and suggests removing it.

“stayed at the frida lodge with our family from scotland for a week in july 2026. i cant speak more highly of the accommodation or service by mandy and the team, they went the extra mile to make sure our holiday went smoothly. the lodges are in a really quiet location and finished to a high standard and the food and service at the restaurant was superb. i’ll definitely be back!”

“We came along with family to the wedding venue/event. The barn was beautifully decorated and had a choice of flower arrangements, menus, etc to look through. There are outdoor seating areas and a glamping tent plus lovely grounds too. Had a look at one of the guest lodges and we were very impressed, hopefully we will have a family wedding to go to there it's perfect.”

“Visited after a few years away & wasn't disappointed! Enjoyed dinner on the terrace in the sun & even with a wedding happening in the lodge it wasn't noisy. The starters were delicious - we had duck pancakes, scotch egg & chicken wings, followed by fish & chips, parmo & rump steak. Couldn't fault anything served. All very tasty and great portion size for the price. The service was good & the staff attentive with making sure we had everything we needed. It was a shame the pizza oven wasn't available (due to the wedding), but we were told when we called to book, so not a problem. Recommend to anyone looking for a simple but tasty meal in a relaxed setting.”
