About Freckled Angel
Freckled Angel is a family-owned restaurant in Menai Bridge that has been running for over 8 years. The menu is built around small plates, with several ordered per table, including ox cheek and a cheese soufflé. A surf and turf burger sits alongside them, and vegetarian options appear on the menu too. Lunch and evening each have their own menu, and the dishes change from time to time. Seating is split between a downstairs area and a separate upstairs area, where large groups are seated. Reservations are required, and booking is available online.

Customer Review Summary
Small plates are the draw, with reviewers praising innovative twists on traditional dishes and big flavour on every plate. Named favourites include the Korean chicken, the ox cheek and the cheese soufflé. The burgers come close behind, with the surf and turf burger and its fries singled out, and one parent says a fussy son enjoyed his burger. Vegetarians note a good choice, and desserts mentioned are crème brûlée and rice pudding. Staff are described as friendly, attentive and not pushy. The recurring complaint is noise. Several who sat upstairs near the big groups found it loud, with echo, and one says it was hard to hear each other and overwhelming. One felt rushed to place an order, and another noted slower service towards the end. Some suggest sitting downstairs for quieter tables, and one recommends booking. One reviewer also enjoyed the playful meal names, including Retired Dairy Cow.

“Amazing food. Me and hubby order 6 small plates and some bread. Every single plate is filled with big flavour.”

“Food here was excellent. We really enjoyed it. Even my fussy son enjoyed his burger while we had tapas. I love the look of the restaurant but packed with people as it was, it is far too noisy. We really struggled to hear each other. It was a bit overwhelming at times. The staff were great, really helpful but a little slow serving us towards the end.”

“Loved our first visit and already looking forward to returning to enjoy the evening menu. Difficult decision in deciding from the lunch menu, fabulous selection on the choices of burgers. And great value on the tapas, we could also see another table enjoying the various plates on offer. We both went for the surf and turf burgers. So delicious in flavours, because of the quality in the products, the fries were amazing, the best I've had. We had room for dessert, Crème brûlée and rice pudding, again taste buds loving every mouthful.”

“What a wonderful place. We both had evening meals here that were amazingly good. Indeed, the best food that we've had out for several years. The meals were innovative with top quality ingredients and clearly devised and executed by people who really care and are interested in modern british cooking. The staff were all knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and engaged. They clearly loved working there in this excellent environment. Thanks to everyone there for giving us both such a life affirming, enjoyable visit.”

“Nicely decorated, we were sat upstairs. We were rushed to quickly put an order in which wasn’t great to start with. We had a selection of small plates & one burger. Burger was really good. Small plates were good especially the ox cheek and cheese soufflé. It was a little noisy upstairs and the sound echoed.”
