Quick info
About The Roebuck
The Roebuck is a pub on London Rd in Marlborough that serves Sunday lunch in two sittings. The roast comes with a choice of pork, chicken, beef or a nut wellington, and a homemade Yorkshire pudding sits on the plate alongside. Cauliflower cheese can be added as an extra. The rest of the menu is small and works with a specials board, with pub classics such as steak and ale pie. Dogs are welcome, so owners can bring them along. The car park can fill up at busy times.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday lunch is the main draw, with reviewers describing roasts of pork, chicken, beef and a nut wellington, topped with a massive homemade Yorkshire pudding and cauliflower cheese. Close behind are pub classics like steak and ale pie, praised as excellent examples, and a small menu lifted by an interesting specials board. Portions are described as plentiful, and one diner took leftovers home. Staff come up repeatedly as friendly, welcoming and attentive even when the pub is fully booked, and several say booking is needed for Sunday lunch. Some visitors note the refurbishment, with one calling the revamp a pleasant shock. Dog friendliness is a bonus for one. The caveats are value and consistency. One reviewer found the ham, egg and chips mostly fat with burnt chips, and another called the scampi and chips average with fryer oil that needed changing. A couple found it a little dearer than expected. Parking is tight when the pub is full, and one diner says the pub ran out of crumble.

“Nice place, friendly and helpful staff and the food was good... a little dearer than expected but really good. And dog friendly which was a bonus.”

“6 out of 10 Average standard pub food £18.50 Scampi and chips Plus service charge (Service was polite and good) Probably would not return as expensive, average standard food nothing special. Oil from fryer definitely needs changing. 👍”

“A wonderful pub. Easy to get to and parking available. Amazing food reasonably priced and we got a lot for our money. Very friendly welcoming staff. We really enjoyed our lunch. Thankyou. We will be back for sure.”

“Worst meal we have ever had. Ham, egg and chips. More fat than ham. Chips burnt. Expensive poor quality food. Suggest the owner investigvate the kitchen staff on duty Thursday 16th April early evening. Might be "hard workiung" but clearly need further training!”

“Incredible Sunday Lunch ! You MUST book for Sunday lunch (as walk in spaces rare). Two sittings, arrivals 12-1230pm and 2-230pm I believe. Great use of space for tables. Wheelchair accessible in one part of the restaurant (near back door), but when busy can't get to the toilet. Staff couldn't have been any more welcoming and helpful. Great atmosphere, background music level just right (sat under a speaker). The main issue is parking; the car park is not big enough if the pub is full - eg at Sunday lunchtime. Especially difficult if you are a blue badge holder and need to park close by. Low level lighting so low vision may struggle on certain tables.”
