About Pho Cue
Pho Cue is a Vietnamese restaurant in Manchester's Chinatown, at 52a Faulkner St, built around pho. The beef pho comes with rare beef, and a ribeye version sits alongside it for those who want a different cut. Salt-and-pepper dishes cover squid, calamari and chicken, and the lotus chips get the same seasoning. The kitchen also sends out pork spring rolls and summer rolls. Seating is walk-in, and a queue forms outside before opening, so people who want a table early arrive ahead of the doors. Vietnamese coffee rounds out the drinks.

Customer Review Summary
Pho leads the praise, with the Special Pho, a rare beef pho that one diner says tasted like it came from Vietnam, and a classic ribeye beef pho all described as generous in portion. Close behind is the Vietnamese coffee, called rich, smooth and full of flavour, with one regular stopping in several times a week just for it. Reviewers also name the pork spring rolls, salt and pepper squid and chicken, garlic butter dishes and BBQ duck. Queues come up repeatedly, and a few suggest arriving just before opening to beat them. The complaints are specific. The salt and pepper lotus chips were a small portion, one longtime regular finds the person managing the queue unwelcoming over several visits, and one diner who waited a long time found the soft shell crab mostly garnish and what looked like fryer scraps. Staff told that table it was how the dish should be. Meanwhile, a regular keeps returning partly because a waiter remembers them and their friends.

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely amazing experience at Pho Cue in Chinatown! 🇻🇳🇻🇳The food was delicious, with such a fantastic variety of Vietnamese dishes and plenty of great options to choose from. Everything was fresh, flavourful and beautifully presented. The service was equally impressive friendly, attentive and welcoming from start to finish. A special shout-out to Jordan, Daniel & Christian for going above and beyond and making our visit extra special. 🙌🏼 Would definitely recommend Pho Cue to anyone looking for great Vietnamese food, excellent service and a lovely atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back! 🌟🍜🥢”

“The rare beef Pho tasted like it was from Vietnam. Super tasty. All the portion sizes were generous, and left feeling full. Value point is fine for Manchester city center. Would come again.”

“I’ve been coming to Pho Cue since early 2022. I used to go at least twice a month, so I feel like I can give a fair and honest review. The food has consistently been one of the reasons I keep coming back. It’s still my favourite Vietnamese restaurant in Manchester. The original team was fantastic, especially the lady who used to welcome people at the door who no longer works there. She always made everyone feel looked after and was very agile handling big queues etc. There’s also another member of the original team who’s still there, and she’s always so friendly and welcoming. I genuinely enjoy it when she’s looking after my table. A special mention also goes to Jason. I first met him when he was a waiter, and he always remembered me and my friends whenever we came back. That personal touch really makes a difference, and honestly, knowing Jason is still there is one of the reasons I continue to return. That said, I also want to mention something that has disappointed me over the past couple of years. The gentleman who manages the queue has never been particularly welcoming. I completely understand the restaurant gets very busy. That’s not the issue. It’s more that this has become a pattern over several visits. He often comes across as though he’s doing customers a favour rather than welcoming them into the restaurant. Customer service is just as important as the food, and I think this is an area that could be improved. As for the food, where do I start? The Vietnamese coffee is incredible. The pork spring rolls are an absolute must, and honestly, any of the salt and pepper or garlic butter dishes are excellent. If you’re not sure what to order, try the lamb chops or the beef with fried rice instead of jasmine rice (missing pics but I promise it’s worth it). You can thank me later. The BBQ duck is another favourite if you enjoy rich, saucy flavours, and the Special Pho is absolutely amazing. Overall, I still think Pho Cue is well worth visiting. The food has kept me coming back for over four years, and that’s not something I say lightly. I just hope the front-of-house experience becomes as consistently good as the kitchen. One final suggestion. Maybe consider closing at 10pm instead. 😅”

“Absolutely amazing! I can’t believe I found authentic Vietnamese coffee here in the UK. The coffee is rich, smooth, and full of flavour. A fantastic little spot with great drinks. I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!”

“The queue is usually soo long so I'd suggest making a reservation or going maybe 5-10 minutes before opening times to beat the queue. If you're making a reservation, please know they don't take same day bookings. Now the food!! It's amazing. Anything you get here is a hit. I usually go for anythung sweet and spicy, their egg fried , and the salt and pepper chicken and calamari. Portion sizes are also really good for the price. It's a shame they're not on deliveroo, Ubereats or hungry panda; I would've ordered everyday!”
