The security on the door said i was ‘too drunk’ but i don’t know how i could’ve been drunk because i hadn’t’ even had a drink, it’s just my personality. Discrimination At its finest”

  “Posting a review because I'm annoyed and hoping for answers. At the beginning of April me and a group of friends went to Brewers at 11ish on a Thursday night. Unsurprisingly, it was pretty empty, only our group and 2 other groups there. But the music was good and the vibes seemed nice. It started to get busier around 12/12.30 but we ended up having to leave. Anyways, we've always wanted to go back to Brewers again but every time we've tried we've been rejected? And each time the bouncer says that they "don't know why" but they're "not letting people in anymore" The first time we went back it was again a Thursday night at 12.15ish and they said the doors were shut even though it was not full and didn't say why. We literally made the point that it says it's open till 2 and I can't see anything on the website that says there's a time where doors shut. We went back again last night on a Saturday and arrived at 1amish and the same thing happened (is says it's open till 4am). Not sure if they don't like big groups or just randomly decide who can go in and who can't or if there is final entry time they should say this?? But anyways been disappointing.”

  “*Leaving a 2 star review because 1 star is easy to remove* Me and a few friends are staying manchester with the intent of coming here. They didn’t let one of our friends in who is neurodivergent, as he was ‘too drunk’, he gets this at a few clubs because of who he is. they said to come back in an hour, we came back after just under 1.5 hours. they still denied and even called for security which was hugely patronising, and humiliating. Their security is biased and discriminatory and i don’t think we will be returning. AVOID this place. They’re discriminatory and rude and cause a fuss for no reason. Hugely humiliating. very dissapointed.”

  “we arrived at around midnight and were instantly turned away and told to come back an hour later because our neurodivergent friend was “too drunk” (he had barely drank). we watched them let in multiple people who were visibly more intoxicated, but in smaller groups. when we came back an hour later, security was hostile, shouting at our group to leave just because we asked nicely why we couldn’t come in, which security couldn’t actually come up with a valid reason for. disgusting treatment, getting shouted at in the middle of the street felt so embarrassing and was entirely uncalled for, security staff don’t know how to speak to people appropriately.”

  “Was denied access at the door, with the alleged reason being it was ‘sold out.’ However they continued to sell tickets to atleast 30-40 other people. I was coming to meet a friend for their birthday who was already inside. When I asked why again they regurgitated the same lie that it was ‘sold out’ despite letting people inside that very moment. Overall I think the general consensus was I did not fit the stereotypical LGBTQ archetype - I am a tall stocky black male with long ish hair - and for this reason they I believe they would not let me inside. It is deeply saddening to me that even within spaces of inclusion there is still discrimination and divide. It’s important to realise sexuality does not have a single correct or regular form. There is no such thing as looking ‘gay’ like how many outlets of media and culture try to propagate. I’m just a bit upset that a great night was ruined by something clearly out of my control, Brewers do better!”

  “We come here when we go on nights out on a Saturday. It’s free entry and the vibes are great. Love gay village!!! Upstairs is more recent music but downstairs is more my vibe with older pop music. Not sure how often it is, but the first time we went there was a drag show on too and it was fantasticccccc”

  “We went to the brewers in a group and one of our friends got dragged out by a bouncer without any of us being notified and we couldn’t find her. She was left outside quite distressed. No consideration. Leaving a girl outside by herself, tried to talk to the bouncer and he just yelled in our faces. Do better.”

  “This place is so much fun . The door staff are so welcoming and tolerant! It does get a bit wild and packed but that is the enjoyment and attraction. The downstairs is well worth the wait as the door team keep it safe by restricting capacity. Never seen any trouble here as opposed to other venues in the village! Highly recommended and the bar staff are extremely attentive!”

  “Had an amazing Saturday night here with friends. Drinks were reasonably priced for the area, door staff were welcoming and staff were friendly. Inside was busy but not uncomfortably crowded and there wasn’t much wait for drinks at the bar while we were there. I’ll definitely be returning here next time I’m in the village!”
