Customer Review Summary

Tatami rooms and private booths draw the most mentions, often booked for birthdays, with reviewers describing kimonos to dress up in and take photos with. On the menu, the Dragon Roll is singled out by two diners, one calling it some of the best sushi they have had, and children praised the nigiri for its chunky cuts of fish. Close behind are the gyoza and yakisoba noodles, along with the make your own matcha drink, the juice coolers and a golden fish cocktail. Several describe staff as attentive and friendly, including with a group of 12, and one reviewer says even a fussy eater found something to order. The main complaint comes from one large party: the booking system was faulty, the kitchen was not ready for such a big order, and the food came out slowly. Other reviewers describe fast service from the kitchen. In that case the chef came out to apologise, and at another birthday table the chef stopped by to offer good wishes.

“A lovely first time visit - food was really good and service was great. We booked a table in the tatami area for the two of us which was a nice authentic touch - will definitely be back.”

“Atmosphere and food are amazing. Me and my two friends think about the food so often we have come back several times. Very warm and comforting food and environment and staff are lovely. We spend around £30 each including multiple drinks, a starter and main meal each (after splitting it 3 ways) so the prices are honestly not bad. Definitely worth it would recommend 100x over.”

“What a fantastic find for my daughters 13th birthday. We booked a Tatami room for the 4 of us and she just loved it, with the added bonus of dressing up in traditional kimono. The food was incredible, deliciously fresh and a fantastic variety to choose from. My daughter especially loved the make your own Macha drink. Even my youngest who is a fussy eater found something she liked to eat. Our waitress couldn't do enough for us and the chef even came to check on us all and offer birthday wishes. We will certainly be back. Thank you 🙏”

“We went to Zen Sushiya for the first time for my son's birthday and what a wonderful experience we had. I cannot praise the staff enough, they made his night so special, like they couldn't do enough. The tatami room was so much fun and the food was delicious too. I didn't have sushi myself, but the kids mentioned that the fish on the nigiri was really chunky, which they were over the moon with, so the chef is certainly not tight with it. The juice coolers were so good we ended up ordering some more. Thanks so much, we will definitely be back!”
