  “I recently stayed for a couple of nights during pride weekend. We had booked an event on the roof terrace. Manager was great, and all of the staff were friendly and accommodating! Big shout out to Steph who was lovely!”

  “I do not normally write reviews. I believe every place has good and bad days, and to leave a negative review is hurtful to businesses. But i would like to detail my experience here. Before anything, i would like to thank Lamar and Pav for their brilliant service, and for turning a rather depressing experience to a tolerable one. The reason behind the low rating is simply one person: the manager. We went for lunch today to celebrate the birthday of my little sisters (they’re twins). After entering the venue, we sat at a table of 4. The very first red flag was when the manager approached our table. In a very dismissive and (honestly) arrogant tone, she asked if we had a reservation. I replied that we do, and tried not to focus on her apparent displeasure, Then came the time to take our order. My little sisters are very sweet and quiet, so they did not comment on the disregarding tone she was addressing us with, as if we are not welcome and in the wrong place. It was already awkward at this point, then when it came to my order i asked if i can order a lunch bento set. As if speaking to an idiot, she said we don’t do this set on Saturday’s. After an awkward pause, i advised her it was Sunday... Honestly i was gobsmacked. It seemed like she was trying to find any chance to demean or make us feel unwelcome. This felt so unprovoked it was actually ridiculous. I called some waiters over, told them we were uncomfortable with her and only then found out she is the manager, so we are pretty much helpless. However, Pav and Lamar went out of their way to be so sweet and attentive the rest of the way through. Thank you so much for making my little sisters feel better. Although we will not be back, you are brilliant young gentlemen. The food, waiters, and venue are brilliant here. If not for the manager it honestly would have been a lovely afternoon. It was sad and hurtful for no reason at all.”

  “I went here for afternoon tea for my birthday and it was absolutely amazing. The venue is beautifully and stylishly decorated with a lovely view and balcony area overlooking Manchester Town Hall, Albert Square and beyond. Albeit at the moment the Town Hall is still half covered in scaffolding. The Japanese style afternoon tea was absolutely delicious. It consisted of Sushi, Pan-Asian savouries, Passion fruit and Miso Crème Brulee, Matcha lollies and Matcha scones with clotted cream and the most exquisite Kumquat Compote. The price was good value and is what you would expect for a good quality afternoon tea in a nice venue. We chose to include a Peach and Lychee Spritz cocktail with our afternoon tea which was refreshing and surprisingly strong. As we had included it when booking the afternoon tea is was very good value as it came at a reduced price of £10. The staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. They were attentive without being overbearing. We went on a Wednesday mid afternoon and the atmosphere and ambience was so lovely we stayed for several hours drinking more cocktails which at £14 each were the price I would expect to pay for good cocktails in this kind of location. I will without doubt return to Sora because it was so fabulous.”

  “We had a lovely time at Sora Restaurant tonight. Food was amazing, very fresh and cooked to perfection. Great ambience and service. Stephanie and Lambert served us and were knowledgeable and friendly. It was our first time there and we had a great time! We will definitely be back.”

  “Service-wise we had a bit of a shaky start but everything was solved quickly. The staff is kind and aim to please. The food was beautifully presented and had really really good flavours, portion size was good and price was not cheap but, in my oppinion, fair to the quality and portion sizes. Beautiful views, specially during Christmas with all the lights and Chritmas Markets nearby. Will surely come back.”

  “We received a very warm welcome from the server - she was incredibly helpful as we were looking for a special menu item, and explained that they didn't have it. However, she offered some great alternative suggestions. She was lovely and, to our surprise, even gave us a lovely compliment for our wedding anniversary. Thanks, Stephanie!”

  “My friends and I rocked up here for a birthday meal. The vibe was polished , snazzy but unfortunately one of those places where they gradually increase the music so you end up shouting. They offer some great tasting cocktails, I recommend the yuzu whiskey sour. The mai tau variant didn't taste as great for the same £14 but the others I sipped of my friends were nicely made and well presented. The food menu consisted naturally of some sushi dishes. Having scoured through it, at a glance, the £45 tasting menu seemed the better choice. With that you got edename beans, rice bites, kfc cauliflower, kingfisher sashimi, salmon teriyaki, salmon Nigeria and maki, beef tataki? Black cod (a £14 upgrade) ginger marshmallow, mochi and tempura prawns. My other friends ordered similar dishes individually along with a steak . At first there was confusion of what was part of the set meal or not as one staff member was trying to help out but was not familiar with the dishes. The original server soon appeared though and explained everything very well. Everything was cooked and tasted amazing however those that did not get the set menu inhaled their small portions quickly and were at dessert level before we knew it. For me and my friend the food amount was just enough and we did enjoy it whereas my partner paid £50 for a couple of drinks and plates and was still starving. In all honesty, fancy places where your wallet feels as empty as your stomach afterwards are not usually vibe. If I had not chosen the set menu I likey would have marked it down. As a whole we enjoyed the experience but its somewhere I would not personally return.”

  “I ate here yesterday with my friend. We had the Pan Asian afternoon tea which was delicious. The selection of food was fantastic. We were lucky enough to have Josh as our waiter and he really made our day. He was attentive and informative and was able to answer any question we had. The venue itself is beautiful and I would absolutely recommend.”

  “Cool spot with good vibes, 7th floor. Sushi platter was great, and I tried the Japanese white wine which was great. If you got with at least two people, would've loved to try the tasting menu!”

  “My son and I visited for Mother’s Day and it was all I hoped for. The food was delicious as well as the cocktail. We had a great table by the window with views of Manchester City centre on a sunny day. Thanks to our waitress Bella for wonderful service too.”
