About Mackie Mayor

Mackie Mayor is a food court in Manchester, set in a Grade II Listed market hall from 1858 on Eagle St that has been restored into a food hall with many separate stalls. Visitors choose from several vendors in one room, so a group can order from different kitchens and eat together. The stalls include Pico's tacos, bao buns and fish and chips. Ordering runs through the QR code at each table or through an app, and the food and drinks are brought to the table. The ordering site can show fewer stalls than are visible in the hall. Seating is communal, with extra space on the mezzanine level, and seats can be hard to find at peak times. The hall opens Tuesday to Sunday and closes on Mondays. Cocktails and craft ales are available alongside the food, and a water station is on site.

Customer Review Summary

Most reviewers come for the table-side QR code ordering, which lets groups pull food from several vendors at once and sit together at communal tables in a restored market hall. Diners name tacos and frozen margaritas, bao buns and gyoza, plus pizzas, gourmet burgers, fish and chips and Thai food, and several call it ideal for large or indecisive groups. Reviewers describe a good, friendly atmosphere, with extra seating on the mezzanine and outside. The caveats are practical. One reviewer finds the ordering system not very intuitive, another says the site shows fewer stalls than are visible in the hall, and one notes tables needing better cleaning and more cutlery. A separate diner found a burger and fries average with measly portions, and the food arrived well after the advertised wait. A few mention it being extremely busy with seats hard to find, and some call it a bit pricey while still pleased with quality. One group ordered from four different stalls and had drinks and shared bites arrive quickly.

“Mackie Mayor was a great experience. It was extremely busy and really hard to find a seat, but we eventually did. Ordering from the table (QR code) made it easy to get food from the various vendors. They have everything for everyone. We ordered bao buns, gyoza, fries and drinks. The quality was fantastic and delicious. I highly recommend going to Mackie Mayor. Not cheap but reasonable, and good value for money.”

“The vibe of the place is the first thing that catches your eye, the building is great, and the table layout is fun and cute. It's perfect for large groups because it's easy to order a variety of dishes from different places. The only minor issue is that the ordering system isn't very intuitive, so it might be difficult for some people.”

“A nice place in Manchester to grab a range of food and drinks - great for an indecisive group who all want different things! Loved Pico’s tacos and the frozen margaritas. It was a bit pricey but we were pleased with the quality of everything and the service. Would definitely come back and try the other food stalls.”
