Quick info
About Namaiki
Namaiki is a sushi restaurant in London at 14 Broadwick St, built around omakase served at a sushi counter with only a few seats. The chefs prepare each piece in front of guests and introduce it as it arrives, so the meal doubles as a conversation across the counter. The sushi uses Japanese brown rice. A steamed egg starter and nigiri feature in the omakase, and Japanese beer is paired with the sashimi. Menus can be customised when booking, for example for guests who do not eat crustaceans.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers center on the omakase at the counter, where fish freshness comes up again and again. Diners single out the rice, described as a light Japanese brown rice that lets the fish shine, and the steamed egg starter, called silky smooth and full of flavour. Nigiri also gets praise, with one regular calling it the tastiest in London. Close behind is the chef interaction: the chefs prepare and introduce each piece in front of guests, tell stories and invite conversation, and one reviewer notes a younger chef explained each course. A few mention pairing sashimi with Japanese beer, and one had the wagyu steak with mushroom sauce, calling it tender and cooked just right. The setting is intimate, with only a few seats and a small private room for one birthday party. One reviewer cautions that the engaging counter format is not suited to a catch-up with friends where talking among yourselves is the aim. Another says the menu can be adapted for dietary needs, such as no crustaceans, when booking. One birthday table was given a small vase of fresh flowers.

“Best Value Omakase in London Unique in using a specific grain of Japanese brown rice, light, great flavour, really allowing the fish to shine through. The selection of Chef Nobu’s fish is outstanding, really high quality and each individually garnished to near perfection. All in all at £59 its excellent value and extremely high quality fish, the precise procurement and quality really stands out. I highly recommend it. Best part is that despite it being Omakase you can customise when you book if for example you don’t eat crustaceans, Nobu will adapt the menu for you!”

“I’ve been to Namaiki twice now, and it never disappoints. The quality of the fish is consistently excellent, and every course is prepared with great care. Everything feels fresh, well-balanced. I’ve had the chance to experience omakase from both chefs, Head Chef Nobu and the younger chef, Haru, and each brings something different to the counter. Head Chef Nobu delivers an exceptional experience with his consistency and attention to detail. This time, my meal was prepared by the younger chef, Haru, and I was genuinely impressed. He was confident, attentive, and clearly passionate about what he does. Every course was carefully put together, and his explanations made the experience even more enjoyable. He’s definitely a rising talent, and I’m looking forward to seeing him continue to grow. Thank you to the whole Namaiki team. Looking forward to my next visit.”

“Excellent food and service. I had the Wagyu Steak with Mushroom Sauce, and it was one of the highlights of my visit. The steak was tender, flavorful, and cooked just right, while the mushroom sauce added a rich and delicious touch. Friendly staff and a comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommended!”
