About Heath street kitchen

Heath Street Kitchen is a small plates restaurant at 20B Heath St in Hampstead, London, set among artwork. The menu is built around sharing, tapas-style, so a table can order several dishes at once. Millionaire potatoes are on the list alongside Korean fried chicken and sea bass served with creamy leek. The kitchen works with seasonal ingredients and sources them as locally as it can. Wine and cocktails run alongside the food, and dogs are welcome. The menu is shorter on Mondays, and some other days also have limited availability.

Customer Review Summary

Millionaire potatoes are the dish diners name most often, with several calling them the star of the table. Korean fried chicken comes close behind, along with sea bass with creamy leek, the burrata cucumber and melon salad, and ravioli. Others mention the mackerel flatbread, Korean cauliflower, fried baby squid, chimichurri sirloin, and aubergine with lentil ragu on polenta. Desserts such as the tea poached Japanese pear with mascarpone and speculoos crumb and the brioche bread pudding with custard also draw praise. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly, attentive and kind. The criticism is specific. One reviewer found so much of the menu unavailable on a Monday that only the Korean chicken remained among the meat dishes, and advises against going that day. Another reports a floor covered in leftovers from a family meal, a large television showing a gardening programme, and servers who were attentive but easily flustered. A third found the choice of mains very limited. One couple were offered a free dessert for a wife's birthday.

“this place is fantastic!! super chill but chic vibe right from when you walk in, great service from Miles, a range of exquisite food and great music, there really is something for everyone in all aspects here!! star of the show for me was the millionaire potatoes, but the mackerel flatbread and korean cauliflower were also amazing. we’re not local, but if we get the chance to come back we definitely will!!”

“Poor. We arrived to find the detritus of a family’ meal covering the floor and a large television screen dominating the eating area showing of all things a gardening programme. The two guys serving were attentive but easily flustered. We were looking forward to an evening out but tbh we ordered the minimum and got out as quickly as we could. Sad because we have had better experiences here in the past, but we won’t be going back.”

“The food was very tasty, especially aubergine with lentil ragu on polenta. Service was very friendly and they offered a dessert on the house on account of my wife's birthday.”

“An interesting tapas place in Hampstead, sadly largely a desert of decent restaurants. I recommend the Korean chicken bites and fried baby squid to start. Very limited choice for mains so we shared 2x 300g steaks between us with a couple of portions of very good fries and broccoli. A fun evening.”

“Went here this evening for my friend's birthday dinner and had a lovely time. Its a cosy place in Hampstead with amazing staff. We ordered a whole bunch of 'small plates' and each one of them was delicious! My favourites were the Millionaire Potatoes, burrata cucumber & melon salad & seabass with creamy leek; with the korean fried chicken, gambas pil pil, the ravioli being a huge hit with the others as well! Hannah & Miles made our evening that much more comfortable & special - we cant thank them enough! We will surely be back!”
