About Chicken Cottage

Chicken Cottage is a halal fried chicken takeaway in London near London Bridge, on Tooley St at number 128. The business started in London in 1994 and built its menu around fried and grilled chicken. Customer Review Summary

Service draws the sharpest complaints. One diner was refused lettuce after being told they could have it, saw a staff member snatch the meal away and left with a refund. Another found staff slow and unbothered in a hot, busy shop, with small tenders and too few napkins. A third describes unwelcoming staff. Two peri-peri takeaway orders went wrong: rice missing from the bag after unanswered calls, and an app order not started at pickup time with the rice badly packed. Others praise friendly staff, and one received free BBQ wings on Christmas Day.

“Cheapest meal I’ve had during my Eurotrip. Well, worth it too. Also, had our own mini Chicken Shop Date episode (though this wasn’t the shop filmed in) 😂 Had the tenders and spicy chicken wings. Wasn’t spicy at all for my Asian tongue. They provided chilli powder though so alls good”

“Terrible food and even worse service. Before ordering, the man serving me agreed that I could have lettuce with my meal. When it arrived without any, I politely asked for some. A man from the back then stormed over, shouted, “THIS MEAL DOESN’T COME WITH LETTUCE,” and snatched the food away from me. His behaviour was rude, aggressive and intimidating. I was left feeling upset and ultimately had to leave hungry with a refund. Lettuce costs next to nothing, so the way this was handled was completely unnecessary. To make matters worse, the food looked dry and unappetising anyway. A genuinely awful experience—I won’t be returning.”

“Chicken Cottage isn’t just a fast-food chain—it is an absolute UK late-night institution, a sanctuary for the hungry, and a spot that delivers pure, unadulterated comfort food perfection every single time you walk through the door. Hands down, they serve some of the finest fried chicken you can get anywhere. We’re talking golden-brown mastery: a skin so ridiculously loud and crunchy it practically shatters on impact, giving way to meat that is piping hot, exceptionally tender, and bursting with juice. Then you have the spicy wings. They don't just give you a hint of spice—they hit with that deep, creeping, perfectly balanced heat that keeps you reaching for the next one before you’ve even finished the first. If you’re going for a full meal, the legendary Mountain Burger is an elite engineering feat of crispy chicken fillets, cheese, hash brown, and crisp lettuce, stacked high enough to demand respect. And let’s be entirely honest about the garlic mayo: that creamy, punchy liquid gold honestly deserves to be classified as a protected national treasure. But while the deep-fried side of the board is undeniably elite, do not sleep on their grilled peri-peri. Charred to absolute perfection over the flames, it is smoky, shockingly succulent, and packed with a tangy, fiery marinade that rivals high-street peri-peri joints charging double the price. Of course, no order is complete without the sides. Pair your mains with a literal mountain of hot, freshly dropped chips—crispy on the edges, fluffy in the middle, and generously seasoned with that signature salt—and you’ve got an unbeatable feast that never, ever misses the mark. Whether you’re stumbling in for a desperate 1:00 AM post-night-out revival or just craving top-tier, soul-soothing comfort food in the middle of a Tuesday afternoon, Chicken Cottage stays undefeated. The portions are unapologetically massive, the service is lightning-fast, and the sheer value-to-quality ratio is a solid 10/10 every single time. Long live the Cottage.”
