About Pizza East - Shoreditch
Pizza East is a pizza restaurant on Shoreditch High St in London, set in the Tea Building with an industrial dining room and long communal tables built for sharing. The kitchen cooks wood-fired pizzas, including a Nduja and honey pizza, and serves Calabrian potatoes as a starter or side. A tasting menu moves through several starters, several pizzas and a tiramisu, and a sharing platter menu covers tables that want to split dishes. Wines, cocktails and craft beers sit alongside the food, and a cocktail making masterclass offers twists on classic cocktails. The restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner, with flexible group dining for larger parties. Walk-ins without a booking are accommodated on busy nights.

Customer Review Summary
The complaints carry weight. One diner describes three barely tepid pizzas with a plain crust, a wrong salad and a red wine that arrived tainted brown, though the bartender comped the salad and the wine. A reviewer with dietary needs says vegans and celiacs were offered only an nduja and honey pizza or told to "just eat the potatoes," and two follow-up contacts went unanswered. Another reports colder treatment of foreigners and a rude hostess.

“Went as part of a company dinner. The restaurant didn’t cater to vegans, celiacs or lactose free people and offered no alternatives, so a few of us left hungry after watching our co workers enjoy a train of endless different dishes. Servers had no knowledge of what veganism is and was told they could offer an nduja and honey pizza, or to “just eat the potatoes”. Contacted the restaurant twice, someone said they’d look into it and reply but never did. I wouldn’t go if you have dietary requirements and definitely not if you have allergies.”

“Been here a couple of times as my hotel was nearby. The food was okay, but unfortunately the service felt noticeably different toward foreigners, with locals being treated more warmly and prioritized. I initially thought it was just a bad night, but my second visit was even worse, we didn’t even get past the hostess due to how rude and unwelcoming she was.”

“Really nice experience. The food was delicious. Pizza, lasagne, mozzarella sticks, pea croquettes all of them. Excellent service and friendly. Definitely I'll go again and I highly recommend this place”

“Not sure where to begin, but we stopped in with an old friend thinking a pizza would be nice. He is from London, we live in the States and Italy. Had high hopes as the restaurant manager was Italian, and at least one of the chefs. Did not know this was a Gordon Ramsey restaurant. The restaurant was half empty, but lovely, nice decorum. Our waitress however was absolutely untrained. After deciding our meal choices (Calabrian potatoes - excellent, fish crudo - 4 out of 5, Margherita pizza, Diavolo pizza, the Prosciutto with pistachio pizza, and a large Caesar salad), I ordered a glass of Chianti. We were never given a wine list until after ordering. The young waitress was confused and asked if it was white wine. I told her, no, red. She came back finally with a small glass of red wine, but not the Chianti, and it was tainted brown (a sure sign of yesterday’s open bottle). It was so bad I had to walk up to the bar and ask the bartender for the correct wine and size even. When I sat back down, our food had just arrived. The three pizzas were barely tepid. The flavors were unexceptional. The diavolo was ok. The salad that came was an Italian Misto salad, not Caesar. We split it up but were not enthusiastic about it. The bartender came back to check on us (she was excellent). When we noted the wrong salad, she took it back and comped it, and brought the new one. Salad was fine, full anchovies vs being mixed in the dressing, which was fine as well, just a bit salty. The original waitress apologized for her mistake. They also seemed to have comped the wine. The pizzas simply were not good. I witnessed the chef yelling at the secondary cook about the size of the crust dough to pan size. The crust was just “there”. My friend and his daughter commented that there is a frozen grocery store pizza that is exceptional comparatively. We did not finish the pizzas. The original waitress “optionally” tipped herself l,11 😳 Will not be back, and not recommend. Cannot wait to have the real deal when we get back to Italy next week. Disappointing. Perhaps GR should perform a Hells Kitchen episode here?”

“Visited Pizza east few weeks ago. Service provided by Flavia(if im not wrong) was superb. Excellent attention to detail. Drinks were good. Food slightly let our experience down. Steaks arrived fairly warm. (But were delicious anyway). Thanks!”
