About Naru
Naru is a Korean restaurant at 230 Shaftesbury Ave in London, with a dedicated gluten-free menu that lets diners who avoid gluten order from their own list, including a GF japchae. The main menu pairs contemporary Korean cooking with traditional bibimbap rice dishes, and Korean BBQ short ribs (LA galbi) are on offer too. The dining space is casual, and dogs are welcome, so guests can bring theirs along. Each table has a button that calls the staff, which lets diners ask for help without leaving their seats.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return most for the gluten free menu, with several praising the GF Japchae and the dedicated options that let coeliac diners eat alongside friends and family. Close behind are the cold noodles, where one reviewer loved the chewy texture of the mul-naengmyeon with mustard, while another found the mustard overpowering. The squid, bibimbap, yukgaejang, LA Galbi and homemade kimchi also get specific praise, and somaek and soju come up as drinks to pair. Service is described as friendly and fast, and one visitor was allowed to sit outside. The caveats are small. One reviewer wanted softer rice cakes in the rose toppoki and did not rate the soy garlic sauce on the fried chicken. Another was disappointed that gluten free bibimbap was no longer offered, and one wished the cold noodles came with a whole egg instead of a half. One diner with a single waitress on a Saturday still found her really good, and noted a button on each table for calling staff.

“Absolutely loved our meal at Naru! We had the Yukgaejang(spicy beef soup), LA Galbi(Korean BBQ short ribs), spicy stir fried squid, and somaek(Korean soju and beer). Everything was delicious and full of authentic Korean flavours. The portions were generous, and everything tasted fresh and satisfying. I always make sure to come here whenever I’m in London. Great food, lovely atmosphere, and consistently delicious. Highly recommended! 🇰🇷❤️”
