About Hanwoo Village - Authentic Korean BBQ

Hanwoo Village is a Korean restaurant on St Alban's Pl in London, where staff cook the meat at your table. The BBQ sets, led by a Wagyu set, come with ingredients for making your own ssam, and halal-friendly options are available on those sets. A gourmet BBQ for two is sized for sharing, while the platters suit two to three people. The stews and soups run alongside the grill, with sundubu jjigae among them, and Naeng Myeon cold noodles follow the BBQ. Soju and makgeolli are on the drinks list. Reservations are required.

Customer Review Summary

Diners return to Hanwoo Village chiefly for the meat sets and platters, with the Japanese Wagyu set, the Grade 5 Australian Wagyu set and the VIP BBQ platter for building ssam drawing the most praise. Close behind are the sides and stews. Reviewers single out the namul set, the mushroom set, a kimchi jjigae that was not overly spicy, sundubu jjigae and Yukgaejang, and one describes the Scottish rib eye as tender and full of flavour. One reviewer recommends the Gamja Jeon with cheese, and another found the Naeng Myeon refreshing after the grill. The main reservation is portion size. One diner felt the bulgogi for two was a bit small, while another found the gourmet BBQ for two more than enough, and the rice was called decent but nothing special. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and welcoming, and a few reviewers mention a complimentary welcome drink and the staff cooking the meat at the table.

“We had the most amazing dinner here. We did the gourmet BBQ for two people, the meat was absolutely delicious and so were the sides that came with it. It feeds up to 4 but we didn’t need any other dishes as it was quite a lot for 2. The service was impeccable and it was nice that the staff cooked the food for us. Yuri in particular was lovely and smiley and very helpful. Would definitely recommend.”

“Amazing dining experience, booked for my birthday and don't have any regrets. The staff really looked after us. The food was very tasty, fresh and of highest quality. We had the VIP BBQ platter which comes with a lot of ingredients to make your own ssam (Korean roll). Highly recommend this place for a special occasion :)”

“First time visiting Hanwoo Village and we had a really lovely experience! The staff were incredibly friendly, and we really enjoyed everything we ordered. Our favourite dish was definitely the Yukgaejang. So happy to have such a great KBBQ spot in our area!”

“We had a lovely experience overall. We ordered the Kimchi Jjigae, which had a nice flavour and wasn’t overly spicy, making it quite enjoyable. The rice was decent, nothing special, but perfectly fine alongside the dishes. The Japanese Wagyu set was absolutely outstanding, definitely something I’d recommend. The mushrooms that came with it were also very good and complemented the dish nicely. We also tried the Scottish Rib Eye, which was excellent, fresh, tender, and full of flavour. For drinks, we went with the original soju, and that was great as well. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was pleasant—all in all, a very enjoyable visit.”

“Very good and welcoming service. Platter is great for 2-3 people. The complementary sides and welcome drink are amazing. This is a nicely decorated bistro with authentic Korean dishes.”
