About Assa
Assa is a Korean restaurant in London, at 23 Romilly St, where budae jjigae (army stew) is cooked on a stove at the table, so a group shares it as it simmers. The menu also covers Korean fried chicken, including a boneless version with spicy sauce. Topokki comes in a sharing portion with a choice of flavours, and the kitchen makes japchae, a japchae pancake and kimchi or seafood jeon. Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return for the fried chicken, with the spicy boneless version and the cream dak gangjeong both singled out, and topokki and japchae close behind. Several also name the budae jjigae army stew, which one pair enjoyed cooking at the table with staff on standby to help. Others mention the LA galbi, kimchi and seafood jeon, pork bibimbap, naengmyeon, bulgogi and kimchi fried rice with egg. Melon beer and plum tea come up as drinks. Many describe the prices as reasonable and the staff as friendly, and food often arrives within minutes. Some mention a wide menu that suited a diner with ARFID, plus banchan and potato salad brought to the table. The one clear complaint comes from a two-star reviewer who found the room clinical, with bright lights, and said a man made them move seats and came across as stern. That reviewer also found the food good but flat in flavour. One notes a ten minute wait for a table, with possibly longer queues at peak hours. Takeaway containers for leftovers are handed out without asking.

“Atmosphere is quite clinical, bright lights and open small room, me and my friend went to sit and the man forced us to move. The man was very impolite and stern however the lady was very nice and accommodating! The food was good but a very flat taste palette. I wouldn’t come again, maybe other food would be better!”

“The food and service were incredible. The staff was incredibly friendly and gave us great recommendations. Our order arrived just five minutes after we placed it. We visited this restaurant after hearing CNBLUE’s recommendation during their London concert and decided to try it out. It’s become our favourite spot for delicious food at a reasonable price without any waiting.”

“There was a variety of different dishes, as someone with ARFID I was able to find food that I LOVED while my mum was also able todo the same. The staff were so incredibly kind and you saw they were working very hard. Reasonably priced also!”
