Quick info
About Trattoria Raffaele
Trattoria Raffaele is an Italian restaurant at 94 Sydenham Rd in London that makes pizzas to custom request, including a dinosaur-shaped pizza made for a child. That option lets diners ask for a pizza built around their own idea, such as a particular shape. The menu also covers pasta and thin-crust pizza, with margherita and pepperoni among the pizza options and garlic butter served with the pizza. Reservations are required, so tables are arranged ahead of each visit.

Customer Review Summary
Pizza is the draw reviewers describe most specifically, with one calling a marg and a pepperoni thin, authentic and well cooked, with delicious dough and a side of garlic butter. Pasta comes close behind. One reviewer was pleasantly surprised it held up as takeaway, which they note is usually tricky, and another simply called it lovely. Several describe the food as delicious and the place as a lovely local restaurant, with friendly staff, good service and a homely interior. Takeaway and collection get good reports. One reviewer flags the cost of two pizzas and garlic butter, yet still found the pizza superb. Another notes that the restaurant was busy all evening after they booked early. One parent singles out the kitchen making a pizza shaped like a diplodocus for their son.

“Been meaning to try for years, finally got takeaway and it was really delicious, and pasta is usually tricky to do well as a takeaway. We’ll definitely give the restaurant itself a go next time!”

“Thought I’d give this local place a go, very pleasantly surprised. The two pizzas (a marg and a pepperoni pizza) with some garlic butter, set me back £27. Despite the price, the pizza was authentic, thin and superb. Dough was delicious and it was cooked well. In all amazing pizza. Went to collect and having been back from Italy recently. The interior was homely and very fitting.”
