  “Me and my wife came here for dinner and wasn’t disappointed. The vibe and food felt very authentic and nothing like a popular high street Italian pizza place 👀. We had the continental meat board to start which the waiter kindly told us what all the meats were and for main the wife had a lovely Roman pinsa and I had the carbonara. All freshly done. Litterally watched them make it from scratch. Wife was very impressed with the flight of wines too. Only drawback is I wanted more on my plate because it was so nice. Reasonably priced fo a nice meal in an intimate setting. The decor felt like I was on holiday and not in Croydon so for that I’m super impressed.”

  “I visited Basil and Grape recently for a meal and drinks with work colleagues. While the restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the staff were polite, I found the overall experience lacked value for money. The Experience: * Service & Pricing: It felt a bit like a "money grab" at times. When we asked for a wine recommendation, the staff suggested a bottle that was £15 more expensive than anything else on the menu. * Hidden Costs: Be aware that there is a 12.5% "discretionary" service charge added to the bill. This is only mentioned in the very last sentence of the menu, so you end up leaving a tip regardless of whether you felt the experience warranted it. * Location vs. Price: The prices are quite steep—more in line with Central London than what you'd expect for Croydon. The Food: * Bolognese: Personally, this wasn't my favorite. The bolognese was extremely herby, which made it quite difficult to finish. Italian food is subjective, but for my taste, the seasoning was just too much. Verdict: A stylish venue for a drink, but between the pushy wine suggestions, the hidden service charge, and the hit-or-miss food, I probably won't be rushing back.”

  “The food was amazing. We got 2 pizzas, homemade lemonade (that was delicious), and wine. The service was both prompt and friendly. I just would like to suggest that they could have a bigger table. They also have a lovely space with a small wine tasting room. Will definitely visit again if I am in the area .”
