About The Waiting Room Coffee Bar
On Deptford High St in London, The Waiting Room Coffee Bar is a coffee shop at number 134 with an all-vegan menu. Brunch includes scrambled tofu, and the burgers range from the BBQ seitan burger to the ol colonel burger. Bagels such as the spicy maiden sit alongside a Caesar salad and two types of loaded fries. The walls carry work from local artists, and a book exchange lets visitors leave one book and take another. A quiz runs on Thursday nights, which gives the evening its own event beyond the daytime coffee and food. Dogs are welcome, so owners can bring their pets along when they stop in.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers come for the all-vegan food, with the Caesar salad and loaded fries named repeatedly and burgers close behind, including a BBQ seitan burger and the ol colonel. Brunch earns its own praise, from scrambled tofu with battered sausages, spinach and mushrooms to the spicy maiden bagel and the chick'n lickin', one reviewer's favorite, alongside a hashbrown called deviously good. Chicken tenders, buffalo wings and a lemon doughnut with fresh lemon flavor also come up, and one non-vegan partner reportedly loved the meal. One reviewer calls the coffee the best in the area. Others point to the cocktails, local beers and red wine, plus mocktails on request and hot drinks in the evening. Staff are described as friendly, kind and quick. One reviewer notes that dairy milk is the standard, with alternative milks available. Some mention the metal and punk on the speakers and a lovely garden, and several close on the Thursday night quiz, where the host is singled out for praise.

“Unbelievably good spot. Such a great vibe. Incredibly warm and friendly staff. They have a lovely cocktail selection (good to note that they have mocktails as an option you just have to ask). I LOVE how you can also get a hot drink in the evening too, which I think is GREAT because you’re not always in the mood for alcohol or a cold drink! And then to top it all off INCREDIBLE vegan food. We got two types of loaded fries and caesar salad, SO YUMMMM. Coffee is delicious too xxx”

“We had the chick'n lickin' and spicy maiden, iced choccies and a lemon doughnut and everything was very very good!! The lemon doughnut had a great fresh lemon flavor and the bagels were very layered in flavor. The chickn lickin' was my personal favorite, the hashbrow was deviously good! Very sweet people working too and great welcoming atmosphere :))”

“A really lovely independent and no other word for it, cool, vegan spot in Deptford. The food was 10/10, we had two burgers, the loaded fries and the Caesar salad. All were wonderful. The atmosphere was great and service was speedy, they also serve the XOXO soft drinks which are tasty and very refreshing and my friend had the red wine. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for vegan American style food in London.”
