About China Palace
China Palace is a Chinese restaurant in London, set in a converted Docklands warehouse that holds a stage with a dragon-and-phoenix backdrop and karaoke for those who want entertainment with a meal. The dining hall is large and laid out with big round tables, which suit groups. The kitchen serves Cantonese dim sum and roast dishes, including char siu bao and har gow. Among the mains are dry-fried beef ho fun and a beef brisket claypot. The menu carries photos and is printed in both Chinese and English, so ordering is simple for guests who read either language. The restaurant sits close to the DLR and ExCeL.

Customer Review Summary
Dim sum is the main draw at this Cantonese hall, and reviewers single out the fried items: a crispy, non-greasy char siu puff, a taro croquette crunchy outside and creamy inside, and a beancurd roll with plenty of filling. Har gow, cheung fun, char siu bao, turnip cake and shrimp dumplings also get praise as traditional, and one calls the taro dish a standout. Close behind are the beef brisket claypot, the dry-fried beef ho fun with strong wok hei, and a jellyfish and shredded chicken salad. Starters impressed one birthday party, and tapioca pearl dessert with fresh mango and grapefruit was praised. Reviewers describe a huge dining hall with round tables and a stage, and one mentions karaoke. The caveats are mixed. One diner found the mains underwhelming, with Singapore fried rice heavy on curry powder and oil, and a half roasted duck that was slightly dry. Another disliked the constant clatter of dish carts and said several servers kept approaching the same table and losing track of the order. Others describe friendly, attentive staff and generous portions.

“This is a restaurant i come frequently. Good catch! Updated with the correct dish and promo details: Highlights & Standout Dishes * Char Siu Pineapple Buns (菠蘿叉燒包): Golden, beautifully cracked pastry crust topped with sesame seeds. The soft bread holds a rich, savory-sweet BBQ pork filling with an ideal balance of glaze and texture. * Soy Sauce Chicken on Rice (醬油雞飯 / 豉油雞飯): Tender, succulent soy sauce chicken with glossy skin over a bed of steamed rice, topped with fragrant ginger-scallion sauce and fresh bok choy—an incredible value at just £8 during their promotion! * Crispy Roast Pork Belly (燒腩仔): Generous, thick-cut slices featuring a light, crackling skin and balanced layers of fat and lean meat, served with traditional dipping sauce. * Stir-Fried Morning Glory / Water Spinach (通菜): Crisp water spinach wok-tossed with garlic and chili, providing a fresh, vibrant crunch to balance the richer dishes. * Vietnamese Iced Coffee (Cà Phê Sữa Đá): Bold, dark-roast coffee served over ice in a mason jar with rich sweetened condensed milk settled at the bottom. Overall Experience China Palace delivers a classic Cantonese dim sum and roast selection in a traditional setting. Portions are generous, the £8 promo on the soy sauce chicken rice is an exceptional deal, and the menu blends rich savory classics seamlessly with refreshing drinks and sides.”

“Really enjoyed my visit here. Staff were friendly and attentive the whole time, and the food was genuinely delicious — every dish came out fresh, well-cooked, and full of flavour. Nothing to complain about. Will definitely be back!”

“Authentic dim sum, with friendly service. Love the shrimp dumplings and rice roll. Dessert is amazing too - we had tapioca pearl with fresh mango and grapefruit, highly recommend. Air conditioning is perfect too for the summer. Thanks for the great hospitality by Jack.”

“My friends and I had an amazing time celebrating my birthday! We were pleasantly surprised to see how many songs they had for karaoke, and the food was equally delicious! A special thank you to Goda and Rimsha, who both were absolutely lovely and attentive throughout the service, and ensured we had everything we needed. We highly recommend visiting!”

“We booked China Palace Excel for a birthday celebration. The starters were very tasty, we had the spring rolls, grilled Shanghai dumplings, salt and pepper battered king prawns and salt and pepper battered squid with chilli and garlic. These were all divine! The mains were just okay and nothing special in my opinion, the Singapore fried rice had way too much curry powder and oil which was a bit off putting. The other meals had too much soy sauce. The half roasted duck was okay but I’ve definitely had better, it wasn’t well seasoned and slightly dry. In all the meal was okay, I would definitely go back just for the starters! It’s definitely budget friendly as the total meal with drinks cost £186 for 5 people so came to a total of £37 each. And we even had a lot of leftovers. I like that they don’t add service charge and you have the option to tip when paying. We went on a Sunday so it wasn’t busy at all with lots of free tables. I would say that it would have been nice to get complimentary prawn crackers or fortune cookies as that is something we get when we visit other restaurants. This will be a nice touch to boost service.”
