About The Green Cafe

Breakfast and brunch run into lunch at The Green Cafe, a cafe on Greenwich High Rd in London. The kitchen builds its morning menu around plates like the Full English and Eggs Benedict, with vegan options alongside, while cakes and pastries sit on the counter for a lighter stop. Coffee anchors the drinks list, with Americanos and lattes poured through the day and breakfast tea served for those who prefer it. Orders can be eaten in or packed to take away for anyone heading off to work or the station. Tables work on a walk-in basis rather than by reservation, so guests simply arrive and are seated. High chairs are on hand for families with young children, and dogs are welcome to come in with their owners. The cafe opens daily, and freshly squeezed juice rounds out the menu.

Customer Review Summary

Breakfast is the draw, and the full English or big breakfast is what reviewers praise most, with one calling it one of the best they have had and another noting a sausage that was comically small but tasty. Close behind are eggs Benedict taken out with a little side salad, a bacon sandwich on sourdough with a taste of mint infused olive oil, poached eggs, the omelette and pancakes. Freshly squeezed juice, breakfast tea and an Americano also earn praise, and one family returned for a second visit. Reviewers describe friendly, fast service, and a group of four was seated straight away despite a busy room. The caveats are the coffee and the consistency. One reviewer calls the coffee just like any franchise cafe, and another says it was just okay. Others describe the place as busy and really loud. One Sunday visitor waited for drinks, and the kitchen forgot a daughter's eggs Benedict, then rushed a replacement with a runny sauce.

“Really nice cafe for breakfast/ lunch. Seated a group of 4 straight away even though the place was busy. Served quickly by welcoming staff, had everything we asked for (doesn’t happen often anymore) and coffee was excellent. Ordered a range of breakfasts, the big breakfast was well presented. Sausage comically small but what it lacked in length it made up for in taste.”

“One of the best full English breakfasts I’ve ever had! We pinned all our hopes on this place and it did not disappoint! After lugging our bags through Greenwich on a hot June morning, we were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in. Lions mane lattes, vegan options, açai bowls - we knew we had found the perfect brunch spot to end our trip. Thankyou Green Cafe!💚”

“A nice cosy, busy wee cafe with a nice vibe. Had breakfast here three days in a row. The Americano coffee was superb, the poached eggs were great, the omelette fantastic. It's friendly and the service is fast and spot on.”
  • Matěj Kos
“Absolutely beautiful, cozy and delicious place. The big breakfast is the best I have ever had and the breakfast tea is outstanding.”
  • Kai
“I visited for breakfast one Sunday morning after taking family for a stroll through the park. The cafes appeared inviting, but the execution was somewhat inconsistent, and we had to wait for our drinks; the coffee was just okay. They forgot my daughter's eggs Benedict and seemed to rush the preparation of the missing dish, resulting in a runny sauce. The food is on the expensive side, and overall, would I return? Probably not”
