About Freemasons Cafe
A family-run cafe on Freemasons Road, Freemasons Cafe cooks a full English breakfast that is halal, with a set breakfast option for anyone who wants the whole plate in one order. The kitchen also turns out bacon rolls and cooked main meals, including liver with onions, mash potato, peas and gravy, alongside a Spanish omelette served with chips and salad. Coffee is Lavazza, and the cappuccino sits with a range of other drinks and cakes, panettone among them. There are no reservations here, so customers order at the counter and take a table as it comes. The cafe opens daily through the daytime, and its position near the ExCeL centre and the DLR station puts it within reach of people arriving by train.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers come mainly for the English breakfast, called typical, perfect and incredible, with one diner describing a set breakfast that came with coffee and extra sides. Close behind is the coffee, which one reviewer identifies as Lavazza, and the family run feel, with the owners called friendly and polite. Others mention the big variety of classic breakfasts and dinners, a bacon roll, little panettoni, and a liver dish with onion, mash potato, peas and gravy called delicious. The location beside the Excel centre and DLR and the good prices compared with the rest of the area also come up. The criticisms are specific. Orders can be slow, one reviewer says the tables needed a clean, and another found the young man taking orders cheeky and cocky. One halal breakfast buyer says the price rose while portions shrank and no bread came on the side, and a bacon roll was called steep. Another reviewer says staff wrapped up an English breakfast so it could travel on a flight to California, and it stayed fresh.

“Came here mostly on the offchance that we would get a good breakfast, and how close it is to the excel centre. The food was incredible, had a set breakfast with coffee and a couple of extra sides for a very decent price. The coffee is lavazza (my fave). Staff were friendly and appropriately attentive, atmosphere was relaxed with some good music going on. We were lucky it was a little quieter when we came in as lots of people came and went while we were there. Will definitely come back again to try out one of their main meals”

“Super lovely Mum & Dad local cafe. Big variety of classic breakfasts and dinners. Fresh and fast. Some customers were pretty rough and rude but the owners were polite back. Great variety of drinks and cakes too, even proper little pannetoni. We stayed nearby for a bit and this became our go to breakfast/brunch/lunch whenever we got up daily.”
