Quick info
About The Lansdowne Pub & Dining Room
The Lansdowne Pub & Dining Room is a gastropub on Gloucester Avenue in Primrose Hill, a five-minute walk from Chalk Farm tube, set in a tiled building from 1861 that still shows its original Charrington's signage. The kitchen runs a Mediterranean menu chalked up on blackboards, with a charcuterie board that includes Dorset bresaola, Hartgrove coppa and wild venison chorizo, alongside pizza and a Sunday roast often ordered with chicken. Food and drinks are ordered at the bar, where cask ales, kegs and wines are poured. Outdoor tables sit behind doors that open the room to the street, and dogs are welcome throughout. A step-free entrance suits visitors with mobility needs, and the menu is also available for takeaway. Upstairs, a private room hosts events such as pub quizzes for groups. The pub opens daily, and reservations are recommended.

Customer Review Summary
The Sunday roast is the clear draw here, praised repeatedly for its carrots and potatoes cooked just right, generous portions, and gravy that most describe as rich and well balanced, with several diners calling it their favorite in the city and planning return visits. Close behind, the pizza earns steady mentions, with one longtime regular noting it has moved away from the classic thin and crispy style but still holds up on quality, and a chicken sharer with sweet potato fries and hummus draws praise from another table. The working lunch menu also gets singled out, with fish cakes and a cod dish described as well executed. Service is generally called good, though slow food has come up more than once, including a table that waited an hour on a Thursday evening and another that waited about an hour for a roast before staff apologized and offered complimentary drinks. Guinness pours and mixed drinks drew specific complaint from one repeat visitor, and one reviewer reports their roast made both them and their dog sick overnight. Rising prices, including a side of bread described as having doubled, are also flagged by a longtime regular.

“I love this pub, I come here all the time with wife and baby. I do not say this lightly, but I think they are a contender for best pizza in London. The Nduja, hot honey and blue cheese pizza is insanely good. Favourite pub in Primrose Hill by a distance”

“The single worst Sunday roast i ve ever ate, it came like a gravy soup some roast in it. The taste was very greasy, considering that we paid gastropub prices £26. We ate with my wife and both of us suffered later till next morning from the roast. I gave some of the leftover meat to my dog even he vomited after. The service is nice, the atmosphere as well. We had pizza there couple of days before, it was quite nice as well but i had countless Sunday roasts and this one was the worst by far!”
