About The Antelope

The Antelope is a pub in London at 76 Mitcham Rd, in a building founded in the 1800s by Barclays, then a beer-brewing company. The pub is open daily and has been recently refurbished, with old pictures as decor. It is a large space with a big bar, and a back room adds seating areas where football and TNT Sports are shown with the sound on. Cask ales are on pour. The Sunday roast includes a chef's roast of beef, chicken and pork belly, served with unlimited Yorkshire pudding. The pub also hosts live music and a quiz night.

Customer Review Summary

Sunday roast draws most reviewers, and opinions split on it. One diner at a table of four found it excellent, another calls the roast itself good with an unlimited Yorkshire pudding, but both that reviewer and another describe disappointing vegetables and sad sides. One reviewer who ordered the chef's roast found the chicken and pork belly dry, though the gravy was good. A group of seven came for the roast advertised for a bank holiday and found it missing from the menu with no explanation. Close behind is the refurbished pub itself, described as spacious, with a big back beer garden, cosy seating in the back room and a massive bar. Reviewers also mention live music, a pub quiz, football and TNT Sports with the sound on, plus a couple of cask ales on pour. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and attentive, and one family notes the kitchen made their daughter a kids' fish and chips.

“Proper pub with a massive bar. Friendly staff and efficient service. Really nice outside space with lots of seating, and inside is enormous but has some lovely cosy seating areas in the back room. Incredible entertainment - live music, quiz night, football always showing and everything else you’d expect. Probably the best pub in Tooting!”

“The antelope is great it’s spacious. The food is wonderful and the staff is really friendly and attentive. I don’t know why I don’t go there more often. They were very accommodating and made our daughter a kids, fish and chips, which was extremely kind of them and delicious. She loved it. The place gets lively but you can always find a quiet corner to just chill.”

“The food was okay as we had the sunday roast. The vegetables on it was not the best but the roast itself is good. Unlimited yorkshire pudding. Beer garden at the back is insane”
  • Christine Kim
“We came here for Sunday roast, however it was disappointing. I got the chefs roast which had the beef, chicken and pork belly but the chicken and pork were dry and the sides were quite sad. The gravy itself was good though. The staff were also really nice and friendly.”
  • Emily Billington
“We have been here a few times and couldn’t give it a better review. The staff are lovely, friendly and inviting. Drinks are reasonably priced and the food is delicious. The pub has just been renovated and is absolutely beautifully presented. We love coming here, keep doing what you are doing! 😊”

Good to know

“Founded in the 1800s by Barclays, a company once known for their beer-brewing and nowadays as global financiers, the building at 76 Mitcham Road has been a mainstay for Tootingites for generations. Talk to the locals and they will regale you with tales of times past, of local characters and of life on the Broadway. Our ethos is a simple one, to maintain this community cornerstone as hospitably as we can and allow local history to continue in as rich a vein as possible.”
