Customer Review Summary

Diners most often come for a pre-theatre meal in the grand hotel dining room, and the pre-theatre menu draws the most praise, with reviewers singling out the salmon starter, minute steak and cheesecake, plus a salmon trio and sausage and mash. Close behind, the Burrata starter and 200g sirloin with an onion ring are called delicious, and the cocktails are praised, though one reviewer finds the selection slightly limited. Several describe the marble interior as quiet and spacious, and the waiters as friendly and attentive. Slow service is the recurring complaint. One reviewer waited 35 minutes for a mushroom parfait starter and could not finish the main before a theatre deadline, and another says two starters and a drink were forgotten even though only a few tables were occupied. One also found the chicken main sparse without a side, and another found the atmosphere flat. Others note an autumnal menu in midsummer. One reviewer's account closes on the sirloin's single onion ring, which they wish came as two or three.

“Despite an autumnal menu mid summer the experience was delightful. Great service and staff staff and service superb. Air con and marble interior made it an oasis of calm in a hot city. Will definitely have this place on way and repeat.”

“Lovely food in a beautiful setting. Very slow service even though we were one of only a few tables. Two of our starters were forgotten and arrived as the rest of our group finished theirs. One drink from our order also didnt arrive. Staff were pleasant enough but the atmosphere was rather flat. A shame as food was lovely - a bit old school perhaps and not very summer themed - and the setting in the hotel was very grand.”

“Wonderful night with my friends. First time there. The atmosphere is very elegant and cozy at the same time. David, the bartender, master of cocktails. Never drink cocktails so tasty for my palate, and so beautiful for my eyes. Recommend it 100%!”

“I booked this restaurant for a meal pre theatre. The restaurant is part of the Grand hotel but is striking re the interior design and setting. We were two of only a handful of diners so the service was excellent from start to finish. We decided against the Pre theatre menu and went Al a Carte. A very good decision as the Burrata starter was sublime and probably the nicest Burrata I've ever had. I followed this with the 200g Sirloin accompanied by a pickled onion, onion ring.!! Who knew...delicious. They only give you one, they should make it two or three at least. Yummy. The steak was perfectly cooked and the whole meal was great. Would I visit again. YES.”
