About Garden Bar & Grill
Garden Bar & Grill is a bar and grill at 41 Bramley Rd in London, set in an old pub next to Latimer Road station with a large garden at the back. Cue Point, a British Afghan BBQ, runs from the pub and cooks low and slow over open fire in the Afghan style. The menu centres on smoked brisket and lamb shank, with Kabul Palau as a side. Customer Review Summary
Brisket is the dish reviewers raise most, called tender and the real deal, and it is often paired with the lamb shank on a British Afghan barbecue menu. Triple cooked potatoes come close behind, with several describing huge sides, including Kabul Palau, pilau rice and jalapeño jam. Others name the coal-roasted oysters, Madras chicken, sea bass, chicken skewers and sticky toffee pudding, and one reviewer says not to leave without trying the oysters, brisket and lamb shank. The massive beer garden earns nearly equal praise, described as lush, vibey and sun drenched, and many find the staff warm and welcoming. Groups mention private events and post tennis socials handled smoothly, with the sport they wanted put on. One reviewer dissents sharply, reporting a rude manager, no menus offered and a request to sit outside dismissed, so their birthday party left. Another describes a bar manager who made sure the night went well and brought free drinks.

“After seeing an irresistible reel on Instagram, I knew I had to visit Garden Bar & Smokehouse. As a huge fan of smoked meats, the idea of combining American barbecue with Afghan flavours was simply too tempting to pass up. From the moment we arrived, we were given such a warm welcome by Ben and his team. Walking through the restaurant and into the garden was an experience in itself. It honestly felt like discovering a hidden oasis in London - beautifully designed with lush greenery, cosy little nooks, and thoughtfully arranged seating that made us want to stay for hours. We ordered the smoked brisket steak, the sea bass, and the chicken skewers, and every dish was outstanding. The meat was incredibly tender, everything was packed with flavour, and each dish was cooked to perfection. You can really taste the care and craftsmanship that goes into the food. What made the experience even more memorable was the hospitality. The staff struck that perfect balance of being friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without ever feeling intrusive. We also loved hearing a little of the story behind the restaurant from Ben, who founded it with his brother. It’s always special to meet people who are so passionate about what they’ve created. A truly memorable lunch, incredible food, a stunning setting, and wonderful people. We can’t wait to come back - and next time we’ll definitely be bringing friends.”

“Popped in with my family by chance, on a visit from Canada, very friendly staff, oh the smoked meats.... we had brisket and lamb shank, with huge sides, the triple cooked potatoes we were all raving about, including my on son that typically only eats meat! Everything was fantastic, we were 'reet stuffed' by the end of it, for a by chance meal, far exceeded our expectations, it was the best restaurant I have been too for years. And the ambiance was incredible, a lovely courtyard experience in the midlle of London, who'd a thought it! Thank You Garden Bar and all your staff, we made my whole family very happy”
