Customer Review Summary

Huge portions are what reviewers raise most, with diners repeatedly noting they could not finish their meals and one saying the server boxed the leftovers without being asked. Homemade skin-on chips, onion rings, a club sandwich with lovely chicken and a steak sandwich that was tasty but a little tough get specific mentions, and the cheesecake is called one of the best one reviewer has had. Staff are described as lovely, friendly and quick with drinks, and several visits were birthday meals. The complaints are specific. One diner found the chips pale, hard and undercooked on a steak pie and Cajun chicken meal, declined the offer of fresh ones, and called it poor value. Another found a mixed grill made up of gammon, bacon, thin sausages and a hard tomato with no steak or chicken, while the southern fried chicken Caesar salad had hard, reheated-tasting chicken. One returning regular welcomed the reopening after the refit.

“Attended here as a party of 2. My husband had a mixed grill and it was unlike any mix grill he has had before no steak no chicken. It consisted of gammon, 2 slice of bacon, 3 thin sausages, a slice of mushroom and a really hard tomato. Along with hand cooked chips and onion rings which we can’t fault. Myself I ordered the southern fried chicken ceaser salad. This would have been lovely had the chicken been better it was very hard and felt as though it had been re heated. Not entirely impressed unfortunately- left a fair bit of salad.”
