About The Homestead
The Homestead is a pub and restaurant on Canwick Ave in Lincoln, set inside a former sanatorium building with a private dining room tucked away for groups. The kitchen covers a gastro pub range, and the menu leans on plates like Bangers and Mash, gammon steak with chips, and a Korean fried chicken option, with pate opening as a starter. The bar pours both national and local beers alongside the food. Dogs are welcome in the space, and the room is set up for walk-ins, with no booking posture called for in the data. A clean, friendly floor team runs the service through lunch and dinner.

Customer Review Summary
The most serious complaint comes from one diner who reported overcooked, undersized steaks and a long wait in a near-empty restaurant for close to a hundred pounds. A second reviewer described a dry fish pie topped with crushed leftover potatoes and was refused dessert and coffee because the kitchen closed at 8.30 with no prior warning, though the staff themselves were called perfectly friendly. A few suggest booking ahead for evening meals to avoid the early kitchen cutoff.

“Really disappointed with our visit tonight. Meal for three, almost £100 and the food was poor. Steaks overcooked to be told it’s “checked by a thermometer”, smaller than average portions and a long wait for food in an almost empty restaurant. Very disappointing.”

“Absolutely stunning pub inside and out, first time visiting and was honestly blown away by how nice the pub is inside.”

“A gastro pub within a former sanatorium/asylum? Why not? Fortunately it's a VERY beautiful building, the menu was artisanal and delicious, the beers both real and local. The team were very attentive and dealt expertly with my picky and grumpy in-laws. It was just a passing visit for a wedding, but we do now know a thoroughly trustworthy hostelry!”

“This beautifully clean venue has a very interesting past and Amy and her young team run it efficiently and as a very welcoming ayclean hostelry. During our stay in the area we came here twice with my elderly parents and they really enjoyed the food and we're quite adventurous in their selections. The portions were good and the prices reasonable.”
